(CORRECTED) Comptroller Unapologetic After Ogling Aide
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 06:55 PM by Bark Bark Bark
After all, why should the "bad apples" at Abu and Gitmo have all the fun of humiliating people in their control?

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/16/comptroller.comment.ap/index.html

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (AP) -- William Donald Schaefer, a former governor who is now state comptroller, ogled a young woman at a Statehouse meeting. And he made no apologies about it.

Schaefer stared intently at the woman as she walked toward the governor's office after she brought him a beverage Wednesday during a Board of Public Works meeting. Then he summoned her back, as people waiting to testify watched and waited. The aide, looking puzzled, returned to the table, and Schaefer told her, "Walk again," and watched her as she made the second trip to the exit.

When reporters later asked him about the incident, he called their interest "dumb." He said "this little girl" ought to be "happy that I observed her going out the door." "The one who is offended is me," he told the reporters.

Shareese DeLeaver, a spokeswoman for the Republican governor, declined to identify the aide, saying the aide did not want to talk to reporters or have her name published.

Niiiiice.

Edited to meet posting rules. Still more at the source, believe it or not.

EDIT: Oooooooops me read bad. At pointed out by replies, Schaefer's one of us. My bad. Schaefer SHOULDN'T be one of us, though.

11. Not quite a Zell Miller Dem (there can only be one of those) but close
He has been all over the map. Very opportunistic and fickle. A loose cannon. Kind of a Democratic gropinator.

8. Willis To Oprah Re Frey: CLENIS!! CLENIS!!
http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2006-02-16/#3

Bruce Willis has jumped to the defense of controversial author James Frey, declaring he was unfairly attacked on Oprah Winfrey's TV show last month. Frey has been criticized for embellishing parts of his best-selling book, "A Million Little Pieces," which was originally billed as a memoir. The "Die Hard" star says on TV show Access Hollywood, "Look at what happened to James Frey in the last two weeks. That's a great book and so is the follow-up book. And just because his publisher chose to say that these were memoirs, it took it out of being a great work of fiction... to this guy having to go be sucker punched on Oprah by one of the most powerful women in television, just to grind her own axe about it. Hey, Oprah. You had President (Bill Clinton) on your show and if this prick didn't lie about a couple of things, I'm going to set myself on fire right now. James Frey is a writer, OK? He can write about whatever he wants. It's fiction. It's just shameful how he was treated in some of these things."

Say, Bruce, why don't you just go ahead and set yourself on fire anyway?

9. I'm sorry.
But its obviously time for him to retire and go home. There is no excuse for what he did and in a case like that party affiliation is not the most important thing.

12. Willy Don Sheaffer ... a Mangy Dog Democrat .......
.... he's an old man. In his glory days, he lifted Baltimore from the dregs to a first rate city. He was a pretty good mayor.

He was, at best, an adequate governor.

Now, as state comptroller, he's all but a Republican. And he's always been a bit nuts. He endorsed Bush. He does commercials with our Nazi governor. He's waaaaay too cozy with the Repubs.

He should just go quietly.

He won't
