8 thousand jobs lost a Kraft foods...
GM,Delphi,Ford, Chrysler, Kodak and many other companies that are downsizing or laying off, that I can remember in the past few years. I'm wondering where is the outrage of the people who have lost these jobs. I do not see how bush's poll numbers can be just 39%.

I believe they are really at 20 if they ask more than one group. The jobs are not the only problem there are so many and he keeps adding more and more and more... like this new health plan garbage he planning. He's got his minions all over the television spouting his talking points because dummy doesn't know anything but what they write for him.

P.S. Gonzales needs to go back to law school.

6. Perhaps their goal is having only a few mega plants
Some Kraft plants are huge, over 1000 employees. If they are using efficient machinery and are organized, which Kraft is, they can produce a lot more with one plant of a thousand employees than they can with 10 plants of 100 employees. I am guessing that they will be shutting down smaller plants and increasing production to bigger plants that make the same product.
I haven't really heard what their plan is, but that would probably make most sense for them. The sad thing is that some of the affected plants were probably plants purchased from smaller companies that could have remained in business independently.

4. Although I feel bad for the employees affected
Kraft really isn't the best company to their employees nor do they make the best products. They profit from their name recognition and past reputation. Sure they have good HACCP plans and minimum quality standards, but in the name of profit they have cheapened their products to the detriment of quality. They didn't have to close those plants, lay off people, or make some other cost saving decisions to continue to make money. They just wanted to make more money and hell with everything else.
I encourage DUers to try other brands from smaller American companies who aren't going to outsource at all and who won't be closing plants until they can no longer stay in business. You might be suprised to find that some of it is actually better than Kraft.
