Another war hero endorses Wes Clark!
Today, Michael McClintic, a Michigan veteran who is widely credited with saving Wes Clark's life in Vietnam 34 years ago, came forward to publicly endorse his candidacy. This is his story:

  • In February 1970, Captain Wes Clark was leading Army soldiers on patrol in Vietnam. Suddenly, they came under intense small arms fire from well-concealed enemy forces. Clark was shot four times before another soldier, Michael McClintic, pushed him out of the line of fire.

McClintic, who now lives in Michigan, describes what happened that day:

"In Vietnam, I saw Captain Clark get shot before I was able to push him to the ground and out of the line of enemy fire. Despite his wounds -- Clark was shot four times -- Clark remained in command, and under his leadership we quickly overran the enemy positions."

Clark was later awarded the Silver Star for his leadership that day.

McClintic noted that Clark continued his courageous leadership throughout his military career, and expressed confidence Clark would be an outstanding president.

“The Wesley Clark I see running for president possesses the same kind of courage and leadership that I saw in Captain Clark the day we were ambushed in Vietnam. There is no question in my mind that Wes Clark is the leader America needs to address the many domestic and international challenges that are facing us,” McClintic said. “I was proud to serve under Wesley Clark when I was in the Army, and I am proud to support his candidacy for president. I look forward to working for Wesley Clark once again."

We all have our personal reasons for supporting Wes Clark. What are yours?

Like Michael McClintic's, Wes Clark's life is simply an American story. With your help today, he will make an extraordinary American President. Get involved today!

God Bless America and I haven't felt like singing any patriotic songs in 3 years. He makes me feel proud again to be an American.

7. He's not running for freaking general or war hero....
This is irrelevant. Wesley Clark isn't qualified to be president. His military career is a detriment to his ability to function in a civilian government. The more posts I see like this, the more convinced I am that Clark is nothing more then a uniform full of hot air. Luckily, most Democrats see him for what he is and more importantly for what he isn't and that would be presidential material.

10. It's relevant by your own admission...
As you seem to dismiss his validity as a wonderfully qualified President just because you see evidence of people who recognize a candidate who has put true patriotism in practice. People are beginning to see through the Republican mantra of "national security isn't safe in a Democrat's hands" - and that message can't be repeated often enough. After the nomination of Wes Clark, you'll see a tidal wave of independent-minded, decent, all-American and honest people wake up to the tune: Bush is toast.

Nice try though.

18. You exemplify your candidate
The divisiveness that you bring to this forum exemplifies what is wrong with the country. And only one candidate is talking about, and has the capability to, begin bridging that divide.

Best of luck to you and yours.

22. That would be the divide between humor and humorless?
I think we need a screamer to bridge the vast divide.

13. Wow, great story
Ever notice how the 'why I endorse Wesley Clark' stories always make you feel all warm inside?

Anyway we can get this to the press? It seems that Clark does not like to flaunt his military service, so stories like these never get reported.

Of course, that's one of the things I really admire about Clark. He is so modest and more comfortable giving praise to others than hearing others praising him.

Just like this story, have you ever heard Clark recite this incident? I have and the way he told it he barely got hurt and hardly did anything. There's no bragging bravado to this man which is why he is the perfect anti-Bush.

Don't you agree?

Go Wes!

14. Here's why
Anyone who has been in the military RECOGNIZES a good officer when they see one, and Wes Clark IS the officer that men will follow into battle willingly. The first rule that an officer learns is to take care of his troops, plain and simple. The American people will be lucky to be cared for by a good officer.

Like Wes, I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK. The country that I grew up believing in and the Constitution that I swore to defend. Believe me, no civilian is anywhere near as offended over the actions of the Bush junta as those of us that believe in America being ALL that it can be, not the neighborhood bully.
