Timid, harmless, greedy and no backbone whatsoever.

10. An Ostrich
Too big a body and wings to small to fly, too ugly and viscious to raise as a pet, suitable for overpriced, low fat fillets and leather boots for the mighty rich. And the head in the sand: it's a perfect match.

Plucking the tailfeathers for high fashion and sport, I'm sure there are other innuendoes that can be added. Has the ostrich been declared endangered? Not yet, can't say the same for Democrats.

They "plop" when compressed by a passing foot and they just fizz and dissolve when you pour salt on them.

32. I nominate the Push-me-pull-you
Remember the Push-me-pull-you from the original Dr. Doolittle? It was like two llamas facing away from each other, joined at the waist.

Not unlike Howard Dean's DFA-leaning DNC and the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC), pulling the other way.

Llama's are kind of close to donkeys.
