Something to think about
I was just diddling with the electoral college calculator here:

And noticed something VERY good for us. We won't ACTUALLY need to gain all that much to beat Bush in the electoral college.

Assuming that we get all the states that we did in 2000 (excluding Florida) all we will need to win is Arkansas and Nevada, and both those states considering current circumstances look to be in our easy grasp.

3. Report from Arkansas
I live in NW Arkansas, in the most conservative part of the state. The largest town in the area has changed a bit since the 2000 election. Back then, the Bush/Cheney bumperstickers were everywhere, as were "Veterans for Bush". Lately, I've seen one truck with pro Bush bumper stickers on it, and they were obviously old and faded. At the Harvest Festival in the fall, people weren't picking up literature from the Republican tent (there was no Democratic tent; apparently the local Dems are in hiding). I've talked with Guardsmen families who are concerned about their loved ones in Iraq having inadequate gear, etc. I've talked with small businessmen who say that the way Bush has handled the economy will bring them ruin. I've talked to ordinary workers who are mad about the loss of overtime pay. I've talked with senior citizens and their families who have figured out that the Medicare prescription drug program was a scam. I've talked with numerous Republicans and Libertarians who have said they won't vote for Bush; some have declared they will vote Democratic, some for the first time in their lives.

We have a good chance in Arkansas.
