Are Newbies Welcome on this Site ?
I am new to this forum. I feel I should be able to express my opinion as much as the members with 500 or 1000+ posts.

I thought this was an open forum.

Members should not criticize new member posts because they have so few posts or because they may post a topic that someone posted before they joined the forum.

Thanks for the welcome.

1. Of course
:hi:

But we all have to follow the rules. There are too many of us to allow anyone to say anything. I've had a post of mine deleted, and I'm over 2000 posts.

8. Of course but it depends on their views. What are yours again?
As long as you're a progressive or liberal, you should have no problems.

I am relatively new
and have had no feedback. So I will continue to cautiously tiptoe around and enjoy the forum.

I'm sorry if someone yelled at you, that can be intimidating when you're a newcomer.

I'm pretty new still too. Haven't had anyone get on me because of few posts. Hopefully it was an isolated incident in your case.

13. Welcome and while you make good points, please realize
that we get lots of "hit and runners" from our RW counterpart websites, so extremely controversial (erronious, or inflammatory) posts made by a relative newcomer will be met with some suspicion. That's human nature. But that's the exception. The rule is we are always pleased to have more join us at DU. Thanks for letting us welcome you, Eyeswideopened! :toast:

But don't show up and start spouting pro-Bush, pro-Republican nonsense like some newbies.

17. Of course you're welcome.
And thank you for being here. You might consider poking around LBN or the lounge or the General discussion for a while just to get a flavor for the place. This particular forum has a habit of heating up quickly. Stick around here by all means, just bring a flame-retardant suit.

19. Welcome to the fray
Of course newbies are welcome. (Hey I'm new here, too!)

This is on an open forum, but it is also a forum for the big wide family of progressive-minded people - and right now, we're in the middle of figuring out who the best alternative is to take Government back.

It's not a small issue, it's not an issue that can be settled with just picking what looks like "the right guy for the job" either: many things are at play.

This country has been screwed over profusely and profoundly, and it will take the very best of all of us to restore sanity: I think participating in full, with the best we have, leads us in that direction.

Actually, the hot sentiments are a good thing: they show this country isn't dead yet. But that doesn't mean that debate and discussion, either here or elsewhere, shouldn't follow some basic rules to ensure that debate isn't hogged or clogged.

So, welcome aboard: let's see what you have, and let's play tough - but nice.
