Why does the media assume that Bush is innocent.....
and is only spying without a warrant to fight terror? No one, except the Bush cabal, knows whether or not they are spying on political enemies or not. The media assumes they are only spying to protect us from the bad guys. How do we know this if they are not going to court and refuse to hand over the names and numbers of people being spied on? Why does the media give him the benefit of the doubt? That is not what a national media is suppose to do!

1. You are confused. We do not have a "Free Press"
We have "Corporate Controlled Propaganda Outlets".

2. Because he's a nice guy and they sometimes get to have a beer with him.
Those BBQs are hot items for a press that can be bought cheaply.

5. One of my friends did a freedom of information act
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 11:48 AM by ikojo
request through the local ACLU..this was to see if there was an FBI file on her and YES there is an FBI file on her. She is an environmental activist in her 50s! Hardly a firebrand, trust me. Her file began in 2003. I saw what the ACLU received (the ACLU sent the file they received to her home address) and it included postings on indymedia about demonstrations as well as flyers advertising PEACEFUL NON VIOLENT PERMITTED demonstrations.

YES, Bush spies on middle aged people
YES, Bush spies on Quakers
YES, Bush spies on ordinary Americans.

I think everyone ought to do FOIA request to see what Bush has compiled about them.

The Republicans were an EXTREMELY VOCAL minority party. It seems the Dems are a go along to get along party. Sure some are speaking up but man! the pugs were much more effective at being the squeaky wheel, even when they were the minority.

9. I would love to see a series of news reports on this issue
"How wide spread is the Spying?" "Who are they spying on, what are they collecting and why are these people considered a threat?" "How much is this spying costing the govt in terms of dollars and manpower/human resources and could these resources be better spent?"

Could see the series now - each installment - tape three to five regular citizens who do an FOIA request - and report back on the 'findings'.

I know, it will NEVER happen. *sigh*

7. Everybody and anybody should get the benefit of the doubt
but in this particular case the facts are out there. The president has openly violated the law and openly admits it.

There is no doubt.
