I have no say in how this country is run
My congressperson is more liberal than I am, and my Senators are great as far as Senators go. I live in a city with more people than the combined population of about 10 states, yet those people in those states have more influence over who gets appointed to the Supreme Court than all my neighbors and me combined. Is there a huge problem with proportionality in the Senate, or am I just in disbelief that people in those smaller states are just so different or even possibly unconcerned than I am?

2. It's time to end our rotten borough system--
--of electing Senators. Getting two from every state was necessary to get the Constitution ratified in 1789, but enough is enough. It is wildly obsolete, and we need a system where each state has one senator, with the other 50 being elected at large. It probably hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of being eneacted--with the system we have...it would probably take revolution. But if the Left meant business in this country--hah!--we would make it one of our main goals...

6. Are Democrats even being represented at all anymore???
Although I'm not approaching this topic from quite the same angle, I feel more and more powerless as a Democrat and I think that a lot of Democrats here and throughout the country feel like we really do not have ANY say in how this country is being run anymore (at least at the national level and in a lot of states) and Bush, despite his "claims" of being a "uniter" hasn't done (and probably won't start doing) ANYTHING to reach out to the Democrats Also, from what I understand, the Republicans are increasingly shutting the Democrats in Congress out of their constitutionally designated policymaking and oversight responsibilities. I can accept (with much chagrin) the fact that right now we don't have a majority in Congress but it strikes me as being SEVERELY UNDEMOCRATIC that the beliefs and interests of a sizable amount of our country's population (if not the majority if you belive some polls) are not really being represented anymore, which should be alarming to everybody especially us!
