What lies do talking heads on TV repeat over and over without correction?
There is a thread open which says that the lie that "there have been no attacks in the US since 9/11" is false - not only the anthrax ones but the shooting of an Israeli (El-Al) passenger line in LAX in 2002.

I hear these things over and over. Some of them are old. One is that the Democratic Congress cut off funding for South Vietnam in 1975. I would have preferred that they did, even though they say it like it's a bad thing, but they didn't. The congress approved the defense spending bill for 1975. At the last minute, when Saigon was falling, the White House asked for millions of more dollars, and that turned down. There were even memoirs later that admitted it was less about help and more a domestic political thing, so that "blame" could be laid on the Congress.

I can think of lots of things with major omissions - like talking about how Saddam gassed his own people, but not talking about how Reagan armed him before, during and after he did so, making one wonder why that's a justification for invasion twenty years later. But that's just an omission, a huge twisting of the truth, I'm looking for flat-out lies, like the "no attacks in the US since 9/11" one.

9. The latest lie-that even PBS' Lehrer got wrong and didn't
even bother to investigate--the flap over WaPo's bushbudsman and her lies about Abramoff and his contributions, along with her adamant refusal to tell the truth and trying to fingerpoint at indignant writers' pointing out her hypocracy. Lehrer turned it into a "poor bushbudsman: everybody attacking her (they didn't) and talking dirty."

Pbs/Lehrer now officially belongs to the dark side. Liars, liars, everywhere and not able to think.

15. That Congress voted for Bush's war
He said at the time it was NOT a vote for war, but has gotten away with making Congress complicit in his march to war ever since.

16. They lie about everything that might damage Bush & his corporate masters.
That's all you need to know. Monitor them closely (Media Matters for America, Crooks and Liars, Newshounds, etc.) but get your real news from the alternative media like DU.

Peace.
