2. Our local news reported Murkowski of Alaska was more like 5%
Seriously! They said that SurveyUSA was being far too kind.. http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/lol!.gif

And now that former 2-term mayor of Anchorage, and 2-term Governor of Alaska Tony Knowles (D) is considering running for another term... he (Tony) is already ahead all of the other candidates in the polls

Tony Knowles ~ Democrat

If Tony Knowles opts not to run, we still have two excellent Democrats that are running for sure!

7. I sure don't hear any republicans talking about
changing the law so Arnold could run for president.
It didn't take long for people to change their tune on him.

8. Manchin is a really good speaker and has done some good stuff ,but

he is a little bit too pro business at the expense of the little guy in my book. I think the jury is still out on him as a Gov., I'm hopeful, but most state employees I know don't like him much, and I don't like the way he was trying to kind of get control of the state's public broadcasting system. He wasnt' totally successful, but it reminded me a little too much of what was going on at the national level.

On the positive side he's not spending any money that isn't there, and he has tried to get some of the state's pension and health care problems under control.

Unfortunately one of the ways he has done this has been by privatizing the State Workers Compensation agency. I kind of feel like the shortfall in our Workers Compensation program comes from the fact that the state has been very lax at making companies paying their premiums in the past, and also the fact that coal companies and other businesses that generate a lot of injuries have not paid their fair share. While he DID raise the coal severance tax to help pay it off he also privatized Workers Comp, which kind of got rid of those good jobs with benefits that the folks who worked there had. Or will knock them out of it.

9. I am sure Manchin is a fine governor
but what were is ratings before the mining tragedy? I have never understood why tragedy (911) makes people rally around their leaders (Bush) even though their leaders did't do anything worth rallying aroud (My Pet Goat).

10. Kulongoski has been okay
Politics in Oregon have been rough this last year, Republicans have been brutal in the legislature. Oregon's left has been unwilling to see that, consequently, Kulongoski is suffering from a left wing attack which may well end up with Oregon having a Republican Governor. Way To Go Oregon Lefties!!!
