DO I SMELL THE FEAR AGAIN?
Hello everybody. I hope you had a great Christmas and I hope your New Year goes Democrat. Not corporate democrat but grassroots. Ok. I've got some loaded questions for you. Are you ready? Here we go.

1. Is it just me, that I'm seeing the fear card played again or is it for real? I mean after all, CNN, MSNBC, and all your little corporate outlets seem to be really playing this terrorist threat up really big. You see, my problem is, the media lies so much and protects Bush, I'm sort of confused as to who is telling the truth or not telling the truth. After all, it's election year. Maybe they are just trying to quieten down the impeachment and the Tom Delay corrupt congress issue. Wow! Seems we haven't heard anything on that in a while. Isn't it amazing what corporations can do? They can buy government and get things done on your tax dollars. It seems to me it's not fair that the American people really don't have a voice unless you have power, money and influence.

2. Now, we know what the problem is. Ponder on this for a few days before you quickly answer me. What are you and I going to do about it?

3. Is there anything we can do about it? Do you feel like you are losing your civil rights? Are we going to wait until we loose all of our civil rights before we wake up and then try to do something before it's too late? I wonder what happened to all those sixties love children? Have they all died out or changed their politics? Oh, well. Maybe your like me. Maybe you're asking the same questions. I guess you can tell by reading that I am very frustrated but I'm just one voice. I sign petitions on a daily basis. I write my congressmen and senators on a daily basis. Hell, they should know me well in Washington by now. But I'm sure they just laugh at me and say Ole' Bill is just one voice.

4. What do you think is going to happen to Iran? Bush has already admitted he loves war. So, is old Bush going to try to get us into another war and if so, do you think the draft will be forced into reinstatement? As I said, I would really like to know if you feel like the media is playing up the fear card again? How much truth or propaganda is taking place with this terrorist thing?

Think about it. Your replys will be more than appreciated. And remember, I'm on your side.

1. My response would be...
.....OBL is the REAL threat. I don't know if they want to use a man that they CAN'T catch to try to make us forget things like the man that they DID catch after LYING to us!!

OBL, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice......ALL evildoers!

They all need to be eliminated one way or another. Death to one....impeachment for two others...and the other two just follow.....hopefully.

5. Yes but they've turned OBL into a positive for them.
People don't think about the fact that he hasn't been caught because they have been conditioned otherwise. They'll think about the similarities between what they say he says and what our side says because it's forced into their face constantly. Hell, most of the people still don't believe or aren't sure they were lied to.

2. Welcome to DU. You've voiced thoughts many of us share, if not all

of us. I've pondered this for five years and I don't know what we can do. We've signed petitions, written letters, called Congressmen and Senators, marched in huge numbers in marches not covered by the media, voted and had our votes not count. The system is broken.

6. All good points, but the last one worries me the most.
Our future as related to IRAN, taking particular notice that this IS an election year... and that the Republiwarriors rely upon thier public image as being the party of security, defense, military etc... In trouble for all the exposés we've seen recently and plainly guilty of poor judgment as well as corruption, they need something profound to redirect public attention...

Since they will stop at nothing, and nothing is beyond them... we just might be in for a third "New Pearl Harbor" or, perhaps, another War (a 'real' one as opposed to the "War on Terror" which is a serious security issue but in no way a formal 'War'). Sure, such ideas should be outrageous and unimaginable. It's just a sign of how far we've fallen that they really are imaginable.

As for the rebellious generation of the 60's, well, they've gotten older, slower and... really, they've become the "Establishment". Still, they set an example for us to follow. However, by and large, the image that such activism is really too radical and somehow represents antisocial or inappropriate behavior has been subtly spread over the years, just adding to the general political apathy of the populace. Worse yet, people have basically forgotten how to organize and demonstrate and are also timid/concerned about the effects of an arrest for public order offenses on future job prospects (not to mention that people can be held indefinitely and so on)--a real concern given the fact a person's records can be obtained so easily/rapidly nowadays thatks to computerization. The forces of oppression have been growing and are more than ready to expose themselves as needed.

If I didn't answer you promptly, this thread would be lost in time before long, so excuse the knee-jerk response.

7. Short Attention Span Theatre...
Remember... Americans have SHORT attention spans.

OsamaYoMama is huge news today.. but who the hell knows what will consume the airwaves this time next week?

The one news story that Mistah Bush has no control over is the war in Iraq. As much as they want to paint a rosy picture of how things are going these days.. the reality on the ground says something totally different.

I think that 2006 will have far more opportunities for Democrats than for Republicans. Especially when you look at the incredible candidates we have running!

They'll be times though when the news is consumed by something beyond our control for days and even weeks. In the end though, I still have faith that a majority of Americans are sick and tired of the one party majority and are ready to see balance restored to Congress.

But hey... why the belated Merry Christmas? Have you been out of the country or something?

Wassup with that?

8. I heard a couple of repukes...
rambling on about OBL and they sounded sort of like they were challenging him... saying he was weak and couldn't muster another attack.... I think that's their only way out of this scandal... more heads will roll i bet... they seem to be running scared.

9. It Is For Alito, the Patriot Act, Their Final Push Towards Absolute Power

And they want to push Alito through and renew and expand the Patriot Act, and convince everyone that the pResident is above the law.
I think we can safely assume that Osama Bin Forgotten's recent reappearance is in support of these efforts.

2. Now, we know what the problem is. Ponder on this for a few days before you quickly answer me. What are you and I going to do about it?

Been thinking about it more than a few days, and I still haven't come up with anything that seems like it could work.
The Alito nomination would seem to mark the beginning of the end-game. I have been encouraging my Senators to FILIBUSTER, but that is a long shot at best.

3. Is there anything we can do about it?

If Alito gets onto the Supreme Court, Bush** becomes absolute ruler, Resident-for-Life if he wants.

Do you feel like you are losing your civil rights?

We have all seen the pResident announce that he just ate some of them for lunch, and will be devouring a few more of our civil rights for dinner.

Are we going to wait until we loose all of our civil rights before we wake up and then try to do something before it's too late?

I don't think people are actually sleeping. Who could sleep through all that rucus? The regime has kept them shock-and-awed, terrified, and otherwise frightened out of their wits for 5 years now, with no end in sight.

I wonder what happened to all those sixties love children?

We never left

Have they all died out

A few have

or changed their politics?

NEVER!

4. What do you think is going to happen to Iran?

:nuke: :scared::scared:scared:

Bush has already admitted he loves war. So, is old Bush going to try to get us into another war and if so, do you think the draft will be forced into reinstatement?

Yes and yes :(

As I said, I would really like to know if you feel like the media is playing up the fear card again? How much truth or propaganda is taking place with this terrorist thing?
