I regret having to say this: The Democrats need to replace Max Baucus
The story: Baucus took a wine-and-dine trip to India, and used it as an opportunity to laud the "virtues" of outsourcing American jobs.

Needless to say, that is about as un-Democratic party as it gets.
With a leading Democrat publicly trumpeting outsourcing, why on earth would Joe and Jane Hard Working American want to vote Democrat? This guy could drag the whole party down.

DNC needs to find a Democrat in Montana who can beat Baucus in the next primary he's up against.

1. I read that too
It infuriated me. Because of outsourcing, it's tough to find a job in my field, and any job around no longer pays but maybe 2/3 of what it used to, before shrubbie got hold of the white house, while the cost of living skyrockets. Infuriating.

3. Jesus said that a man cannot serve two masters
A political party cannot represent the interests of the working class and the interests of the capitalists, for they are incompatible with one another. The GOP makes no pretense on which side they are. The Democrats, despite the valiant efforts of the few liberals left in the party, have embraced the entire Reagan philosophy of trickle down economics.

Baucus has said what many others in his own party believe but are afraid to admit publicly.

4. I wonder if this story wasn't distorted
I have heard Baucus speak on economic issues on the Senate floor and in one of the committees. The impression I had of him was more positive than I get from this artice - It may be that the statements are taken out of context or don't reflect the whole issue. The Congress needs to work on having good jobs here - which may mean using the tax code to hinder rather than help outsourcing - even here you can't go to far or you make the produced goods not competive. It is an extremely important and difficult problem to work on.

He's more conservative than I would like - but he represents Montana.

5. From wikipedia:
"Baucus is one of the most moderate members of his party, frequently breaking with them on the issues of taxes, the environment, and gun politics. Baucus voted in favor of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and was at President Bush's side as he signed it. He has fairly consistently voted against repealing the portions of that bill and more recent tax cut bills that benefit upper income taxpayers. While Baucus voted in favor of the Brady Bill and the first ban on assualt weapons, he has since switched positions on gun control, opposing most new gun control laws. In 1999 he was the one Democrat to vote against an amendment by Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) that sought to "regulate the sale of firearms at gunshows." On other issues though, Baucus is more in tune with the mainstream of his party."

Choices, choices, choices
