Just heard that Elizabeth Dole will donate Abramoff contributions

Dole and another Republican from North Carolina are donating the contributions from Abramoff to charity. Bush announced the same thing yesterday. Isn't this like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar and then giving your little brother the cookie?

To me, a bribe is a bribe. I don't care if you try to make amends by giving to charity. If you are corrupt, giving ill-gotten gains away doesn't suddenly make you honest.

This giving "tainted" money back, started by a DEMOCRAT, won't go far with the GOP, since they are the ones who cashed in on all the outright bribes.

the money back or to charity it absolves them of any guilt. Maybe some didn't realize where the money was coming from, but they should have been in charge of their accountants. It has become comical.

... taking money from Abramoff was not, is not and will not be a crime. A specific quid pro quo for the money is. That will not be that easy to prove.

I'd be careful with the assumption that every one who took money from them was is fact crooked.
