Missouri now requires a firearms license for Taser ownership
Beginning Sunday, the start of the new year, a person must have a state firearm owner's identification card, commonly known as a FOID card, to own stun guns and Tasers.

Those who are banned from possessing these cards include people who have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving domestic violence.

A criminal background check also will be required as of Sunday, as will a 24-hour waiting period, which is also required for long guns, shotguns and rifles.

.......

Illinois is believed to be the first state in the country to require that an owner of stun guns and Tasers have a firearm license, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

State law already prohibits people from carrying concealed stun guns and Tasers, which are considered by many to be an alternative to more lethal forms of weaponry.

1. Crap. I have a stun gun
What the hell do I do with it? Throw it away for someone else to find and use?

I'm not all that attached to it that I would go through the trouble of getting a permit for it.

I got it last year, because I hated walking through the parking lot at my job in the dark early mornings.

2. Law is for Illinois, NOT Missouri.....
Do you live in Missouri or Illinois? If MO,you don't have to worry. I have one of the original ones that Sharper Image used to sell. These aren't nearly as powerful as the ones they are selling now, but I'm not about to get rid of it. although I rarely carry it, and don't live in Illinois either. Mine is both a taser and a stun gun, but it looks just like a rectangular "stick," not like the ones now that are gun shaped. Usually I just take the dog whenever I go out, or pepper spray, but occasionally, having this device with me is probably a good idea.

3. Illinois is regulating, NOT Missouri
the article just appeared in a St. Louis paper because of the border proximity to MO.
