I can't recall the details right now, but he got convicted in some kind of financial/campaign contribution/money-laundering thing while mayor of San Diego. Convictions were overturned on technicalities. There was jury-tampering where a bailiff supposedly took booze to the sequestered jury, got them all drunked up and told them to find Hedgecock guilty. Riiiight. Did the crime, tried, convicted, overturned, and he acts like he never did anything wrong because he never had to go to jail.

I've had the unfortunate experience to meet him in person a couple of times; he's a real ass.

He is also very Christian. He has called for the public execution of Atheists, thinks killing a-rabs is the god-ordained mission of the US military, and is an Israel-is-the-fifty-first-state Zionist.
