Rice's star keeps rising even as public's view of Bush, Iraq war declines
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become the most popular member of the Bush administration and a potential candidate to succeed her boss in the White House, even as Americans lose confidence in the president she serves as well as patience with the Iraq war she helped launch.

Entering her second year as the country's senior diplomat and foreign policy spokeswoman, Rice has improbably shed much of her image as the hawkish "warrior princess" at President Bush's side. The nickname was reportedly bestowed by her staff at the White House National Security Council, where Rice was an intimate member of Bush's first-term war council.

.......

Rice has managed to escape the fate of Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, who saw their public approval ratings fall to historic lows before rebounding slightly recently.

"She appears to have sort of skated away" from controversies over U.S. intelligence failures and aggressive U.S. tactics in the hunt for terrorists and from the perception that the United States is "slogging" along in Iraq, said Kurt Campbell, director of the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

9. Secretaries of State typically have good ratings. This doesn't mean much.
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 02:36 AM by Hissyspit
Their job is to APPEAR diplomatic, whether they are doing a good job at anything else or not.

4. Yeah, she was shoe shopping in NYC
while New Orleans was flooded. She also has one of the meanest and most vicious faces I've ever seen. She's one cruel woman.

5. "Most popular" = "least loathed".
And even that is dubious.

I believe I've read articles a tad less biased.

7. you've got that right.
I dare the Repubs to run her. The most effective campaign ad agains her will be her testimony before the 9/11 Commission describing the 8/6/01 PDB.

Oh, please, please run her.

20. It's an AP article. It also appeared on the front page of the..
Buffalo News. I was really annoyed by the pure propaganda, obviously put out by the White House.

10. Oh, this is such unbelievable BS! The spinners are 'spinning'
their usual shite and probably getting paid handsomely for it. However, there's absolutely no basis in reality for it. It's just crap.

13. Even in the face of the obvious.
The brain sick opponents of constitutional democracy will do anything, say anything, happily commit any sort of crime or sin, trying to reshape reality so that their own festering fundamentalism can be perceived as normal and allow them a sense of justification. I am trying to comprehend how it must feel to be, even unwittingly, the very epitome of the wicked, evil monsters that thousands of years of cautionary tales and billions upon billions of lectures and words have tried warn about and teach us against.
I tend to self identify with the upright, truth-seeking story hero and can't quite get it that these sick f**kers actually like and get off on being the lying, cheating, greedy bastards. They - all of them - deserve nothing better than prison, preferably in solitary, for the rest of their miserable existences for the horrors their duplicitous natures have forced them to perpetrate on humanity.
I am not a death penalty advocate, but I am weakening-in this case.

14. Rising with whom?
They quote Pew's October poll. How about <http://www.pollingreport.com/P-Z.htm>Harris Poll's NOVEMBER poll which gives her only 52% Excellent/good or Time Which gives her 53% approval? The most recent are Quinnipiac and Fox which put her at 61% and 59%.

Makes me think the article is a regurgitated press release. Not something researched and written.

15. Relative motion. When everything is moving down, the one thing
standing still looks like it is rising.

Until the focus gets turned to the one thing standing still, then it can be seen more realistically.

;)

her integrity is all smeared through her own lies and pushing of bush and his criminal agenda onto the world.

fidel castro holds the truth out on her...yet,

some stupid idiots have nothing to fight their fear of hillary running in '08 with, so they push the sleeazy slimy woman onto the, "she is surpassing bush stage"

....(that is until babs or poppy find out about it--and smack her right back into her place)nothign can nor will surpass their sonny boy in any way whatsoever!

25. RIIIGHT.. Here in Racist America
the Right wing is going to run a BLACK WOMAN..

Yeah, I'm sure that Alabama is going to lead the charge to get this woman in office.. a Black.. Woman..

ALL those Tractor pull watching southerners and their pig fugging pals are going to VOTE for a Black WOMAN..

It'll rain Hitler Stickers for Tots before that happens..

Unless they have the electronic Voting system SO HOGTIED that there really IS no Vote counted it'll never happen..

Maybe if she had a hair implant, a bleach peel, all of her "teeth (I guess that's what they are)" removed and new ones implanted, blue contact lenses, a sex change, and a new name, MAYBE she could run for dog catcher..

Wotta bunch of horse pucky..
