1. Maybe the press will run with this now.

2. Yes, it's a receiver/descrambler/amplifier and wire
for a small earpiece that is usually in his right ear. He is constantly cued when cameras and microphones are around, every move is carefully orchestrated from backstage. There are pictures of him around the net somewhere in "his" pickup truck at the "ranch," the device showing clearly under a grey T-shirt. There are similar devices advertised for sale, but my guess is that this one was built especially for the occasion and contains the added descrambler. They don't want the press picking up Karen Huge's cuing him on their cell phones.

It's sad, really. This man really does need to be removed from office.

17. This pic is at the ranch, I wouldn't think he would need a vest.
If its safe enough for him to run aroud in a truck by himself.

3. It's a bulletproof vest.. read my post at Brainshrub.com
http://www.brainshrub.com/new-bush-hump#new

If you look closely you will also notice that it doesn't just bulge on the back, it also bulges at his shoulders. This seems like an entirely reasonable precaution if you are the President, and although I fault him for many things, this is not one of them.

As an engineer who knows a lot about electronics and radio systems (I actually work writing software for radio test gear these days), if it were a wire, then why is it so huge? Does it have vacuum tubes inside it? These wires are teeny tiny devices these days. Also, where is the speaker?

It would have to be placed inside his ear and be so small the public couldn't see it. (Think about it..Is the President going to admit to a "hearing disability"?)

The gear they were using in the recent movie "Runaway Jury" really isn't that far from the real world.

In fact he COULD be wired and it would all fit inside his ear where you couldn't see it and the bulge could STILL be a bullet proof vest.

As for: Is Bush "wired for sound"?, well here's some comments:

1) If he was wired for sound during the debates, they must have had Forrest Gump on the mike in the back room because he sucked. As a staffer for the Kerry campaign here in Orlando, I only wish we could have had another debate or two.

That first debate was totally unspinnable and the rest not much better. Remember, in the first debate Bush got all red faced and looked like he was gonna pop a gasket when Kerry started going after him in the first debate. I thought he was gonna try to go over and punch Kerry. (Would have been both interesting to watch and a very bad idea on Bush's part.)

Bush got his ass kicked by Kerry in the debates. Unfortunately, Kerry didn't take the same gung ho take it to the net attitude into his television commercials.

I blame Mary Cahill.

Well it's partly Kerry's fault for hiring her instead of James Carville.

2) Maybe it's a good thing if he is. It's rather embarassing to have to say he's the President because every time he opens his mouth he says something else dumb.

Anyways, while it's possible that he's wearing a wire I think the bulge is a bullet proof vest.

8. You'd think he'd've said so last year during all the chattering.
But he didn't say a word about it. That strikes me as curious.

14. A PHONAK system
sends the audio output of his radio receiver to an induction coil around his neck. A tiny induction receiver in his ear that looks like a hearing aid picks up the EM field of the coil and converts it to an audio signal that he can hear. I'm very familiar with them and have constructed custom coils for the system that are a lot flatter than the one he is wearing. PHONAK is a Swiss company and sells these systems to governments and intelligence agencies all over the World. It's no secret.

7. The funny part
is that the picture was on CNN for just minutes.

Right after the debate that picture showing bush from the side was on the front page, next to the headline. I was surprised, did they do it on purpose or would they notice and remove it?

I copied it just in case. I went back to link it later and they had changed it. Same picture but zoomed in as a close up with his back no longer showing.

It was a less effective picture. The first showed him at the podium, a few reporters, the tree. A good shot as far as photo lay outs go. The quick switch was not a good picture, you didn't see anything but part of bush.

I wonder if they noticed themselves and changed it or got some calls about it.

9. Did ya see him flinch big time when that cell phone rang
during his routine muttering, what was it... yesterday? (The days start to blur when he speaks so often)

Aren't they supposed to keep cell phones outta anyplace he appears, owing to the fact they can be used as detonators or something? That must've rattled his cage. Wonder if it was Cheney calling.

11. If it's a vest...
shouldn't it go up a bit higher on his back? Or is the "hump"
a thicker section of the vest itself?

13. Quite a bit of research was done during the presidential debates by
Bob Fertik and others at democrats.com. Various kinds of heart stimulators, vests, and other gadgetry were closely examined at that time(on our old boards). The only item that fit the pattern on Bush's back was 2-way radio. The press was forbidden to shoot from the back of the debates...one did anyway. They also managed to get a closeup of Bush's ear which clearly showed a tiny device inserted way into the ear canal.

There is no other way to explain Bush's behavior and conversations with people not visible other than being wired. In his bumbling replies to Kerry's questions during the debates...he clearly stated in one such exchange--interrupted his own answer to say "let me finish."

As a group, we were convinced that Bush is usually wired for public speeches and question/answer sessions. Kerry could have demanded that Bush take his jacket off--that would have settled the question.

20. Don't buy it..
The whole purpose would be to give him an edge. If it was a wire, they had Forest Gump on the mike in the back room.

A wire could be so small it would fit inside his ear and you would never know it.

It's most probably a vest and they understandably will not comment on it. I say of all the things we could be discussing right now, this is not worth the time.

19. The hump is probably a steel or ceramic plate.
Typically added to vests to cover the most vital regions. The military has them like this now.

15. Remember how they tried to blame it on a poorly tailored suit?
The tailor, as I recall, was highly insulted and POed.

FWIW, I always chalked it up to some sort of security device but who knows?

21. It's a bullet proof vest, and Bush loves to wear it.
Isn't it obvious he wears it partly to make himself look bigger, and more buff? He's a scrawny little thing, and he loves to dress up so he looks bigger.

I don't doubt he's wired for prompting, and believe he is. I just don't think they need all that bulk to do it. The bulk is a vest, and he wears it not for safety, but for the psychological lift it gives His Royal Scaredy Cat.
