My vote goes to Kansas (Brownback/Roberts). Followed by Oklahoma (Inhofe/Coburn).

...right here on the border, we constantly get to hear about all FOUR of our asswipe "senators". Ugh. Thank god for bright spots A) Emanuel Cleaver, B) Kathleen Sebelius, and C) Dennis Moore. The latter two certainly aren't the most liberal, but they've done awfully well walking through a red minefield.

46. Alaska voted last year during the general election
that if a congressional seat becomes unexpectedly vacant in the future, there will be no more gubernatorial appointments. We will hold a special election ASAP to elect a replacement. Lisa (who was a state representative at the time of her appointment to the senate) hasn't turned out too bad, but people here were still pretty upset by the nepotism. It won't happen again.

45. Stevens is really bad,
but Lisa Murkowski, the junior senator, despite being an appointee of her dear old dad, has actually turned out to be quite moderate. She was one of the Republicans that filibustered the PATRIOT Act, and also she had grave doubts about John Bolton. She has been responsive to my letters and e-mails. Yes, she supports drilling in ANWR, but that's going to be pretty much a given for ANY congressman representing Alaska, even a Democrat. (Democrat Tony Knowles who ran against Lisa last year is also pro-drilling.) Anyway, I think there's some hope for her, especially at some point down the road when Ted's out of the picture. So I'd say Alaska is only HALF bad, but Stevens is bad enough for two.

68. That's pretty bad.
I suspect that for bottom-of-the-barrel opportunism, virulent partisanship, short-sightedness, nastiness, and just plain jackassery, Oklahoma's pair of senators is tied with Georgia's.

Many of the people cited in states with one-party delegations -- Warner, Bennett, Brownback, Hatch, et al -- have redeeming qualities and stances, and are also capable of bipartisan action. I can't think of a single thing that the OK or GA delegations did to earn my good opinion, though, so I regard them as the lowest of the lot.

The other one, Richard Shelby, used to be a democrat. In recent years he got involved in a little problem... something about revealing classified info (oops!)

Because if they leave or the people of maine will stop going against their interest and voting republican both of those seats will be BLUE. At least the senators from Oklahoma are consistent. Collins and Snowe voting for the current leadership time and time again from a predictable blue state makes them the 2 worst senators. MAINE SHOULD NOT HAVE 2 REPUBLICANS!

I have no idea how the hell we managed two republican senators in this state. The current approval rating for Bush in this state is something like 37%. Though many consider Snowe and Collins to be a little left of the cons, but I don't see it. They both have pretty high approval rating (last time I looked).

about the myth of the so-called "Northeast Moderate Republican". They can crow all they want about being pro-choice and about being disgusted with Bush's fiscal irresponsiblity, but when Frist comes a calling for the votes they vote in lockstep with all the other pukes. Same thing happens in the House.

79. And I think our nomination for the state of Kentucky
deserves a little extra consideration because of our fine, lawbreaking, capitol-buzzing governor. He did pray long and hard before pardoning his staff, you know. He said so.

83. The Courier Journal is taking questions for the governor.
I sent in one asking if he pardoned his staffers to buy their silence.

I hope that is one submitted to him to answer.

51. Oklahoma
Both Inhofe and Coburn are batshit crazy, so I think we Texans must defer to our neighbors across the Red River. I think that Cornyn is far and away the worst senator, but Kay Bailey Breck Girl isn't really in that league of awful---although she has been trying lately.

54. Virginia: George Allen and John Warner
Warner sometimes acts with integrity but his voting record is very right wing, despite the growing blue trend in his state. He simply does not care whether he represents the population as a whole. Allen has no redeeming values at all.

I see no redeeming values in either one of these pricks.

65. also from virginia, but disagree
I have absolutely no use for Allen, and Warner is no prize either. But he stood up to Ollie North, which is enough to move Virginia out of the "worst" column imo.

66. Well, technically,
Ted Stevens alone makes Alaska a contender regardless of who is in the other chair. I honestly didn't know about the North thing (I've only lived in VA for 11 years and didn't follow politics too closely back when Ollie was a headline), so I'll cede this to you - while still maintaining that both are assholes.

And shit you guys didn't even elect the third one. Don't worry though, you will only have two Republicans after the '06 elections and if we're lucky, only one.

77. Alabama deserves special consideration
We have:

1. Richard Shelby, a former Democrat who betrayed his party and became a Republican after accepting Democratic campaign money.

2. Jeff Sessions, who is unique among senators for having been rejected by the Senate when Reagan tried to appoint him to a federal judgeship.
