From 50's bogey (Commun-ism) to 00's bogey (Terra-ism)
The shift from 50's bogey (Communism) to 00's bogey (Terraism) is occurring as US manufacturing and national debt are shifted to the Communist country of China. How come Republicans aren't screeching about Communism these days?

1. The bogeyman was never communism...
Not really. That was a convenient label for "bad". Now the label for "bad" is terrorism. Al Quaeda does not exist as a world wide network...it never has. It is, however, a good excuse for the military-industrial complex to continue fearmongering.

4. right... i think the point was "manufacturing" the bogeyman
and yes, for the war profiteers - it's big business and it's makes slaves out of the citizens.

3. They are... but not about China...
to my dismay, they're saber rattling for Venezuela, and now Bolivia and working on "Regime Change" in Cuba.

but you're right about the manufactured bogeyman.

it's all manufactured....

7. We NEED a '50s Bogey--and a 21st Century Bacall!
Hi, omega minimo. This is actually very strange, and I have thought about it, too. After all, Communism (not socialism) IS bad: I hear they even spy on their own citizens, and detain them in secret military installations with no charges, and pay them slave wages! After a lifetime of hearing about the Soviet Union and Red China, Cuba "threatening" us, the domino theory, etc., etc., now, bizarrely, they all--in lock step--impose a total silence on the issue, and everything is OK!

If this doesn't tell you how completely Republicans have been taken over by global capitalists who don't even care about Nations themselves, I don't know what will. Republicans used to be social conservatives who were "pro-business"; now they are the global investors and corporate lobbyists themselves, and there is no society anymore. It is not the citizens having an opinion on corporations anymore; it is the capitalist--period--advancing a select group of corporations. There IS no societal interest anymore--even with something as crucial as national security, the economy, and our country's place in the world.

The fact that none of them are protecting our national interests against the enemy, China, (I can assure you, they think of themselves, and are planning it, as our enemy), because they can work a few more advantages for their global corporations by moving there and getting captive/slave labor, is not only horrifying, but so weird. I cannot understand why NOBODY refers to this situation. Not just criticizing Democrats as always, but wondering why Republicans all at once, as one group, began to never criticize Communism again.

You just fill in the bubbles and slide the ballot in the scanner and it disappears and.......

"I cannot understand why NOBODY refers to this situation. Not just criticizing Democrats as always, but wondering why Republicans all at once, as one group, began to never criticize Communism again."

The fall of the The Wall? After Berlin 1989-- which Raygun took credit for-- the benumbed public learned to just do as they're told. Communism-- isn't that where they usedta wear red or sumthin? :eyes:

Horrifying, weird and the real danger of the brink we are on-- which may be one reason "why NOBODY refers to this situation."

8. Yep! I grew up in that era, and remember it well!
I remember family members and friends & neighbors telling us and everyone else not to talk to those new strangers 'cause "They might be Commies!"

It was preached in the schools, on the radio, and on the few stations there were on TV.

It was grossly exaturated then aand this terrorism is now! Fear is a very POWERFUL tactic!
