Irony of Saddam Trial
The irony of the Saddam trial hit me today. Saddam is being tried in Iraq on charges of torturing. Many of the leaders of this country, especially President Bush support the trial. At the same time the President, Vice President, and others are claiming that the CIA needs to torture people in order to protect American people. If that is the case isn't the trial of Saddam void in that he could claim that he tortured people to protect Iraq. Could he argue that he only tortured people in order to prevent any possible terrorist attacks against the country? I would like to point out that I am against the things that Saddam did; however, it seems hard for leaders of this country to support a trial for Saddam and then support the things he did.

2. Give that persona prize.....
precisely. Moreover, the morass in Iraq is due to the fact that the US left a power vacuum. Saddam, cruel as he might have been, dictatorial as he certainly was, had the reigns of power firmly in hand.

Take that away, and the binding is gone.

3. I do think that there is a bit of a difference
between putting a leash on someone and putting them into a meat grinder.

4. Problem
It seems that Bush wants to do more than just put a leash on people. Also it appears that more than that happened at Abu Gahrib. Remember the public was only allowed to see some of the pictures and videos of what happened in Abu Gahrib. People who saw all the pictures say they were horrible. There were mentions of rape and other things. I hope those things did not actually happen.
