Brit Hume: Bush "trending strongly upward in wake of a vigorous defense"
The latest Gallup Poll shows President Bush's job approval dropping a point to 41 percent. But other major polls have the president trending strongly upward in the wake of a vigorous defense of his Iraq policy and the successful Iraqi elections.

A Real Clear Politics average of the five latest polls puts the president's approval at close to 45 percent — his highest average in more than 4 months. Congress, however, is not so lucky. The latest average puts congressional job approval at just 31 percent.

2. It's still less than half!
It's ridiculous how they dicker over puny numbers to take your mind off the big picture! Their glass is nowhere near half full.

4. Real Clear Politics
average started including polls obviously more favorable to Bush. Humes trending is rediculous.

TEST QUESTION: "Your opponent, Mr. Brit Hume, Esq., has just told the jury that his client George Bush's 'numbers' are trending upward. Rank the following counter-arguments in order from Most Persuasive to Least Persuasive:

1. "Mr. Hume is obviously a stranger to Reality. I'd better introduce them: Mr. Hume, meet Reality. Reality, meet Mr. Hume."

2. "Mr. Hume is what we call a 'zealous advocate', ladies and gentlemen. This is fancy lawyer talk for someone who has his head up his client's ass to about the large intestine level."

3. "Mr. Hume has apparently been the victim of a poor education. He is unable to tell the difference between a high number and a low number."

4. "Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Hume's client's 'numbers' can rise (or 'trend') into the stratosphere, and this will not change the fact that Mr. Hume's client, George Bush, is a disgusting piece of shit who should be kicked to the curb."

15. That's amazing...a 45% AVERAGE approval rating, when I haven't
seen a single poll above 42% in months!

Must be that "fuzzy math."

16. thanks, Pravda V2.0

I'll bet all quotas are being exceeded this year, as they are every year. Especially in bullshit.

Let's see that 'successful Iraqi elections' two months from now.

And 'vigorous defense of his Iraq policy'-- is that what everyone calls lowering of the bar these days?

brit hume has gotten lots of perks and pork barrell from the bushes throughout the years. why wouldn't he want to continue spewing propaganda for he who puts the pork and the butter on his table?

Back around 1990 or so he was on the morning show. I got through and mentioned the fact that he plays tennis with the Bushes. He denied it.

28. Good! And here's a third thing to mention:
All we heard throughout Clinton's tenure was how "everything this administration does is poll-driven!" "They don't say or do anything until they poll to see exactly what to say and how to frame it!"

Mr. Repukelican--I mean, Mr. Republican--why would your Strong Paternal Iron-fisted Manly Leader need to think about polls at ALL??? He's not some wishy-washy liberal weenie who worries about what people will SAY or "what the neighbors will think", is he???
