Grrrrrr.
Remember that according to neocon philosophy, they're not just allowed to lie, they're supposed to lie. The masses probably don't have the stomach for the truth, so lies keep them mollified, assuaged, and yes, in the dark.
So here comes William Kristol on Fox, just a few minutes ago, discussing Bush's little PR disaster over the domestic spying with Chris Wallace and Maria Liasson, and Kristol spoke up, with his silver tongue devil best tone of voice and reassuraing smile, that he WISH we'd have had this in the past because "remember Aug., 2001? Moussaoui (sp)? The FBI wanted a FISA warrant, but the DoJ wouldn't give it to them" (not an exact quote, but close).
Uh, no, Bill. The local FBI office where Colleen Rowley worked wanted one(Minnesota? Michigan? I always get those two states confused), but FBIHQ wouldn't play, wouldn't even ask. It wasn't DoJ at all. FBIHQ's "help" was so bad that Rowley wrote in her letter when she went whistleblowing some time later that she and her colleagues joked about whether or not there was a mole at FBIHQ. (Little did they know!!!)
