...the official Dem response needs to be more about "Why did Bush ignore the FISA court?" rather than "He spied!" If we pursue the latter too soon it's too easy for them to wrap themselves in the flag and claim "national security, terror, etc." and many casual observers will just take them at their word and this may not get the traction it deserves.
However, if our initial objections are more along the lines of "The FISA court is extremely compliant and built for all these circumstances, why did Bush feel the need to ignore the FISA court?" Then they have to actually start answering questions, and offer rationales, rather than throwing out buzzwords. Hopefully one of the questions will become specifically who was spied on. I've seen several Republican hacks on this morning's news shows saying Bush did it just because he could, or at least thought he could. "It's jhust the kind of guy he is". BS! I don't buy it. IMO he ignored the FISA court because of some of the details about who was spied on. I think if some of those details get out that's where the real $#!* is gonna hit the fan.
