Oprah's magazine touts Napolitano as president material
Does "Napolitano for President" roll off your tongue?

Gov. Janet Napolitano could run for president, says the January issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. It lists Napolitano as one of six women in politics "who could give it a shot."

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.; Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin; and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, are also named. The White House Project, a group that wants a female president, compiled the list.

The nod comes weeks after Time magazine named Napolitano one of the country's top governors. O Magazine called eight weeks ago to do research but didn't say why, Napolitano spokeswoman Jeanine L'Ecuyer said. Napolitano isn't shopping for Oval Office curtains, though. "She is really enjoying being governor of Arizona," L'Ecuyer said, "and is completely focused on that."

1. Napolitano is well liked by Democrats
and Goldwater conservatives, alike. She's managed to forge quite an alliznce between the two groups in Arizona, where they constitute a majority. She is no neocon, she is no lockstep DLCer, but she's sort of a common sense conservative, something that appeals to the old Goldwater crowd that has no use for Stupid's fiscal profligacy and sanctimonious demeanor.

The only problem is that Arizona won't want to let her go. Yes, she's that popular.

2. oh, at first i thought she was professing her love of the ice cream...
it's true, a gallon tub of Neapolitan ice cream would do a better job as president than Bush could, even if all it did was sit in the oval office and melt into a big pile of goo...
