Why torture is necessary.
People that are tortured give the information that they think is wanted rather than the truth.

Since when has the truth been necessary?

6. Actually I think that's Jesse Helms
I've seen paintings of Torquemada that look very much like Helms. Don't have a good theory who Cheney is/was. Hmmm, greedy vicious bastard? Not too many of them in history, huh?

7. only those mentioned by Will and Ariel. On each page, chapter, volume
Helms was many things, very few of them good, but I don't think even he would support the VP's position on torture.

5. they torture for other reasons
1) pure hatred and racist bigotry
2) to induce fear into others

the nazis torture was "clinical". They didn't waste more time than needed. Some of the tortured were released immediately after because considered as no longer useful. Other were just whacked.

The torture at Abu-Grahib reminds more of the torture of the Jews in camps "just for fun", but not of the torture of resistants or captured allied pilots or commandos.

The Nazis DENIED they tortured to the difference from the US government planting a story that it might be be necessary under "extreme circumstances".

so the US torture is nothing else than sadistic stupidity and to 99% inneficient. Besides the fact that the information is unreliable, resistance cells has always been built in manner that the participants don't know of others and know only about their plan, not of others plans. It's lesson #1.
