13. That's what I was thinking
he had people making a DVD of Katrina news so he could catch up on that. Surely no one thinks the ego polishers are giving him detailed information about war protests.

12. He also said today
in answer to a question, :eyes: that the number of Iraqis killed was 30,000 more or less.

I guess "more or less" was the weasel phrase. Ignored the credible study by the Lancet that put the number at 100,000. I've been waiting for someone call attention to that. *crickets*

He just pulls stuff out of his ass and nobody in the supine press ever calls him on it.

Moron!!!

17. Right or wrong?
Truth2power, perhaps he was referring to the amount of reported deaths. The Lancet study estimated an incredibly wide number, where 100,000 was the average while reported deaths were somewhere around 25,000-30,000.

Don't get me wrong here. I just think it can be defended that reported deaths give a more reliable number than an estimitation.

25. If that's the case,
then I stand corrected. I didn't read the actual Lancet study, but summaries seemed to say that they took pains to collect data on individuals, family members who attested that their family member had died in the fighting.

30,000 is still an obscene number, though...given that we were supposed to be "bringing democracy" to these people.

28. HE could also just be reporting on what has happened
after the "insurgency" blossomed, relegating the folks killed during and up to the invasion as collateral damage....

18. "more or less"
I am still fuming from hearing those stupid and uncaring words (gawd, he truly has inherited Bar's insufferable arrogance).

Add to that the completely incoherent ramblings with Brian Williams (which I could only take a small doses).

Let bu$h* keep talking - yes, I pray his handlers keep presenting the idiot in free form.

19. Approximately
Well, "more or less" is defined by the dictionary as "approximately".

Perhaps it wasn't the best choice of words, but I think there's no need to attack Bush on those grounds.
He used the correct words but it could have been better.

"more or less" is NOT appropriate. It is flippant and cavalier.

22. Yes and no
Well I think it's only his manner of speaking... A bit Texan. ;)

I said though, it wasn't really the best choice of words, but I don't think this is exactly good as an argument against Bush.

24. He lived in Texas
Hehe, I understand. But he has lived in Texas & other states with this kind of lingo. Perhaps his manner of speaking is different... I would also ask for understanding if this were any other man. I think there are more reasonable ways of attacking people you disagree with than their manner of speaking. ;)

14. Maybe they're pratially right
Well, I myself have noticed that there are less anti-war protests after Bush won the election.

The protests seem to have gone down a bit after the '04 offensive. Perhaps that's what they're pointing out.

p.s. I'm new to DU... Hi.

Rums says he can make reality be what he says it is.
We just can't live in that reality anymore.
Remember they work for us.
If we don't like them or they betray us, we can fire them.
