Is L. Paul Bremer commonly known in D.C. circles as "Jerry?"
* called him that during the speech. Was it another gaffe or is that the accepted nickname of the dude who lost $8.8 Bn at the CPA and subsequently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom?
Bremer, a "staunch" Roman Catholic, took the nickname Jerry from a renown Bible translator and religious historian known today as St. Jerome<7>, his patron saint. While in Iraq, Bremer became famously known for wearing tan desert combat boots with his tailored suits. Although well-respected and liked by most Iraqis, there were those who were more critical of his presence and even threatened him with physical harm.
