SC debate watchers impressed with Sharpton, Lieberman
This is from the Greenville News website.

http://greenvilleonline.com/news/2004/01/29/2004012923713.htm

But by the end of the night, everyone in the group said they believed Sharpton proved himself as a serious candidate.

Five said he won it outright.

Four others said Joe Lieberman made the best showing.

<snip>

John Edwards was the biggest loser of the night, the group said.

"I think he came off as inexperienced," said Pat Pomeroy, a Nashville native who moved with her husband, Bill, to Simpsonville eight years ago. She works as executive director of the Mauldin Chamber of Commerce. "I was expecting a lot more from him tonight, and I really don't think he made the showing that everybody was anticipating."

This race just keeps getting stranger and more interesting by the hour, doesn't it?

The article doesn't even mention Kerry and Clark. Will Joe finish ahead of Clark?

1. No Joe will not finish in front of Clark....Not in South Carolina...
It is however becoming clear that the race will soon become a two man race between Kerry and Clark.

Clark is going to be the second candidate to win a state on Feb. 3rd.

The race will then become the Washington Insider, New England Democrat, against General Smith goes to Washington.

Personally I love it - Vietnam War Hero vs Vietnam War Hero

Winner vs The No-Show Chicken Hawk

2. This focus group's comments are so contradictory it's amusing.

They didn't like the attacks on Bush, but they loved Sharpton? Were they in the bathroom when he said "Permission slip? * doesn't think he needs votes from the people?" They thought there was little discussion of issues, but Sharpton is a serious contender? No mention of Kerry and Clark? They don't understand why they didn't get much detail about flat taxes, when none of the questions asked about flat taxes (and these are Democrats, not Steve Forbes-clones), and candidates had about 8 minutes of air time each? (90 mins-preliminaries and ads and Brokaw questions).

This N of 6 or 7 isn't enlightening me much. They sound as if they thought they were watching American Idol.
