List of DINOS
Is there an unofficial list of DINO politicians? If not, can we make one? Who are the DINOs?

1. What is this? A flamebait post?
What's your point EXACTLY? Eh?

Why not start a POSITIVE thread? Why do you WANT another thread that's SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to INCITE the BASHING of DEMOCRATS?

41. Not flamebait
I was under the impression that this forum is for inter-Democratic Party debate. I simply wanted to know which politicians my fellow Democrats believe best exemplify the ideals of the party. If you don't like my thread, get out and ignore it. No one ask you and the others to come here and spam it.

48. So, let me understand this new term
"inter-Democratic Party debate", so that's what the new term for bashing ANY Democrat that you don't agree 100% with.

Spamming? Ha! I had a thread pointing out that Hillary Clinton WAS a DEMOCRAT...and a very popular thread it was, it got 37 votes...and we had to put up with the Hillary bashers in that thread...

If someone starts a flame throwing thread, yeah, too right DEMOCRATS are going to invade that thread and DEFEND DEMOCRATS.

You don't like THAT...tough.

50. I should add, the title of your thread could have had a better title
Instead of "Hey lets have a list of DINO'S"

Which is an inflammatory title. You could have had a title such as, in your own words from your second comment:

"Who in the Democratic Party best exemplifies Democratic values?"

Which is a non-inflammatory title, and it also asks a solid question.

"If you don't like my thread, get out and ignore it."
Have some one explain to you how a forum works.

I'm sorry, I'm not into cutting off my nose to spite my face. If I agree with one of our Democrats on just 60% of the issues...then I'll TAKE that 60% that I agree with them on.

Their 60% is going to be a darn sight BETTER than a Repuke alternative with which I'd DISAGREE on 100% of the issues with.

30. Why are these comparisons always so bizarre and over-the-top?
The Repuke party are now FULL-ON Fascists, the Fundies are COMPLETELY batshit crazy and dangerous with it...together they want a Theocracy.

So yes, we should ENCOURAGE moderate Repukes to BASH the fucking nutjobs in their own party, because those nutjobs are currently running the damn show.

We've not got the luxury to do this, we're NOT IN POWER...and if we keep having people eating our own, I'm telling you, we're never going to get back in power either.

We NEED UNITY...just ignore Holy Joe and Ben Nelson...IGNORE them, who else is listening to them except the ones that keep harping on about them?

IGNORE them, they're IRRELEVANT.

And let's discuss what UNITES us, we have MANY things that we agree on, lets concentrate on those things.

UNITED we WIN...DIVIDED we FALL.

36. Wow, you think "BUSINESS WEEK" magazine might serve someone's agenda??
Howard Dean has openly referred to himself - in the past tense - as a Rockefeller Republican. Big surprise there, he has relatives on Wall Street. But he chose a different life for himself, that of a doctor in a rural state. And yes, he WAS in the DLC, as Al Gore once was. But he didn't like what it turned into.

Nobody in their right mind would.

49. There is no "unity" with some of these people.
For years, these DLC DINOS have sold this party AND this country out to corporatists and foreign interests such as AIPAC/PNAC/Likud (three divisions of the same thing) And then, when some Democrats finally show a spine against the Chimp and against this agenda, the DLC DINOS attack them.

I can work with those who are truly moderates. I will NOT accept traitors. And I will not let them steal this party.

that when the right-wingers (Dem OR Repub) start screaming for "UNITY", its ALWAYS US that are supposed to unite behind THEM. Same thing when they start throwing around the word "COMPROMISE". If you want an interesting experiment, and you can use advanced search, take one of these guys like our friend here, pull up the posts he's made, and see how far you have to go in the results before you find one NOT attacking a Democrat. (I won't say praising a Democrat, for what will become obvious reasons).

It took more than three DINO votes to pass that horrid bankruptcy bill.

It took three DINO votes to rape ANWR, but they aren't the three you listed.

It took more than three DINO's to confirm John Roberts, a life long Bush Criminal Empire operative with a total of TWO FUCKING YEARS as a judge to be Chief Justice for life.

38. What in the best interest of the Democratic Party is to return it to ....
....the PEOPLE. Not the corporations. The DLC is all about corporate money, but corporate money brings with it expected corporate favors. And we have seen what favoring corporations has given us in the last decade or so. Various forms of deregulation (backed by the DLC) have given us Enron, FAUX News, Clear Channel AOLTimeCNNWarner, $3/gallon gas, NAFTA/CAFTA/SHAFTA and many other abominations that have and continue to rip this country apart.

Democrats should not be supporting this heresy. Let alone a war that is bankrupting this country and killing over 2100 Americans for no reason.

42. So how would you suggest that we raise money then?
Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 01:33 AM by ...of J.Temperance
We NEED corporate money because thats BIG money. If we cut that money, how would you suggest that we raise $200 million or $300 million?

What, lemonade stands? Selling peanuts?

How on earth are we expected to compete FINANCIALLY with the Repukes if we don't accept corporate money.

Money helps our candidates buy ads, make ads, set up a campaign HQ, pay campaign staff, pay travel expenses et al.

Iraq has contributed to bankrupting the country, but the MAIN reasons for the bankruptcy are TRILLION dollar tax cuts and running half a TRILLION dollar deficits each year...we're spending more than we're bringing in...the National Debt is $8 TRILLION dollars.

Yes, we could have done without the Iraq disaster and orgy of murder that Bush Inc. started and yes it's expensive.

But the tax cuts and the deficits are whats killing the economy.

On Edit: Spelling error.

for awhile. I got OK at it, but as soon as I got a complicated hand with lots of splitting and doubling down, I would lose the count.

34. Hang around for a while.
Watch C-Span coverage of improtant votes.
Look up the voting records, especially on Economic Issues.
You will see the same faces and hear the same names crossing over to help the Republicans implement THEIR OneWorld Corporate Dominance. Don't focus on just ONE vote, but on trends.
Check out the records here:

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those who
advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

In EVERY case, "Barriers to Trade" and "Restrictions on Corporations" were created to protect something valuable!

68. Or look at the other threads screaming about the DLC and DINOS and such
It's not like there's any fucking shortage of them.

When you do, notice how many times the "DINO" who must be "purged from our party" for the "Democratic ideal" who is attacked by name is:
--A prominent elected Democrat in a blue state who is up for re-election in 2006, AND
--A prominent elected Democrat in a blue state up for re-election in 2006 who is beating their Republican opponent like a drum to the point that re-election is all but certain...

Funny coinicidence, that.....

71. Like your other playmates,
you seem to have a problem with:

a) observing our represenatives at work (Watch CSPAN)

b) Examining voting records

c) Firing those who vote against our interests

I don't care if someone is DLC or not, but if ANY Represenative or Senator is voting or supporting ANTI-LABOR (PRO-CORPORATE WAR) issues, they won't be getting my vote no matter how loud YOU scream that I'M the one ruining the Democratic Party! THEY are my enemy and I will work to defeat them, Democrat OR Republican.

74. The views are breathtaking as far from reality as you are.
"if ANY Represenative or Senator is voting or supporting ANTI-LABOR (PRO-CORPORATE WAR) issues, they won't be getting my vote no matter how loud YOU scream that I'M the one ruining the Democratic Party!"
Which is why I started all those threads demanding that progressives be driven out because they're ruining the party...oh wait, all those threads are by progressives like you, demanding Democrats YOU disagree with get driven out. My bad.

"THEY are my enemy and I will work to defeat them, Democrat OR Republican."
You know, there's a political party called the Greens that's untainted by corporate money, pro-business influences, DLCers or any of those other things you hate. Perhaps you'd be happier there.

Of course, they're toxic to voters and don't seem to be anything other than a GOP dirty tirck...but other than that they're just ducky.

Failing that, there actually is an organization of progressive Democrats whose programs and events you could support. You could also tell us what they believe and promote their candidacies and that way do something positive about the outcome you wish.

Funny thing though....when there's a thread about them on DU once in a blue moon it sinks like a rock.

Funnier still, I bet you can't name them without Google.

Funniest of all, a quick use of the "Search" function finds that they've been mentioned only ONCE since January of this year--and that in a thread that's inventing some grand conspiracy by the "desperate" DLC to counteract their mighty influence in the party (snicker)...

62. It's a typo.
It was after 1am in the morning and I was typing "Blue Dog" 19 times. Yeah, once I typed Blue Doh. So what?

Don't call me a freeper. The only freepers around here are the DiNOs who attend Republican conventions like Zell Miller. And the Liebermans who attend the National Review 50th anniversary. And the bastards above who voted for things like the Bankruptcy bill, give pro-war support to Bush, and refuse to filibuster a nominee like Alberto Gonzalez.

Anyone who supports these guys is a Republicrat and does not belong in a progressive forum like DU.

57. That must be a record of thread high-jack attempts
by one poster in one thread.

At least it keeps the thread kicked.

65. Let's see....
To start with, there's the humhole from the Green party who switched over to run against Hillary Clinton in New York as a "Democrat" (mostly because the words "Green party" are toxic to voters in New York state, for good reason).

Don't get much more DINO than that.
