Yes, it's still me inside this mornings' news section of the Washington Post.

This article - http://tinyurl.com/afs8o - on the front page, contained this quote:

"Donohue said that Wal-Mart, facing a threatened boycott, added a Christmas page to its Web site and fired a customer relations employee who wrote a letter linking Christmas to 'Siberian shamanism.' He was not mollified by a letter from Lands' End saying it 'adopted the ."holiday" terminology as a way to comply with one of the basic freedoms granted to all Americans: freedom of religion'."

And now, I shall proceed to landsend.com, great big credit card in paw, and proceed to buy something for everyone, and for me, of course, at the same time making sure that I email a message to their management, thanking them for their Constitutional and American stance, and reminding them that the First Amendment also offers us all freedom FROM religion.

Money, money, money - I'm gonna spend it at a place where religious freedom is not only understood, but celebrated.

5. This country was founded on the principles of religous freedom, not
freedom from religion. In other words, seperation of church and state. . . . government can't pass any laws endorsing religion, etc.

I fail to see what private enterprises saying "Merry Christmas" have anything to do with "religious freedom".

I couldn't care less if a company says Happy Holidays. But, I admit I do get irked when they remove all references to "Christmas" because its the PC thing to do and they want to be sensitive to the 10% of people that don't celebrate Christmas.

8. I think the whole point of America
is that the rights of the few are as important as the rights of the many.

Welcome to DU.

9. Wal-Mart is anti-intellectual too! Imagine that!
"Donohue said that Wal-Mart, facing a threatened boycott, added a Christmas page to its Web site and fired a customer relations employee who wrote a letter linking Christmas to 'Siberian shamanism.'"

Yes! The reindeer and the red-man; references to the hallucinogenic mushrooms that grow in the droppings of Siberian reindeer. The flight of the reindeer; the receiving of gifts from the spirit world -- so much of it is rich with ancient shamanic themes. Yes, the primitive sources of the north-pole santa myth are true and documented. Praise Jeebuzz.

Apparently some hapless Wal-Mart employees still know how to read. Guess they'll be fixing that though.
