He recently directed a movie for the Showtime cable channel called "
Homecoming," as part of their "Masters of Horror" series.
Homecoming is about soldiers killed in an unjust war who rise from the grave to vote against the president who sent them to their deaths.
One of the main characters in the movie is a take-off on
Ann Coulter. She writes books and appears on cable news shows to rail against liberals.
Robert Picardo, who played a holographic doctor on "Star Trek: Voyager," has a smaller role in Homecoming as a character based on
Karl Rove. The main character in the movie is a man who works for the Karl Rove-type. During a cable news appearance, a woman against the war whose son was killed in it speaks out. The main character says he
wishes her son could express himself, since her son would say he was proud to die for freedom.
Later, the main character goes out for drinks with the Ann Coulter-type, and admits to her that he doesn't really believe that dead soldiers would express such views.
