14 Dead Americans in Iraq this month - the first two days of the month
Conservatives must be giddy. Free republic members must be planning a party. Just contemplate their joy when some of our kids die on Christmas. Conservative logic - the more dead American Soldiers, the closer we must be to "victory." Just consider how close we will be when the casualty count hits 10,000; all ya gotta do is think like a conservative.

4. A lot of them try to rationalize by comparing the casualties to the

numbers we expected when the war started back in 03.

Or comparing to other wars.

If Vietnam is your benchmark, you've got over 48K lives yet to go!

8. Actually, I think we're exceeding the VN death tolls for 2 reasons.
1.) Consider the medical/field care advances that have taken place in the last 35 years. Without those, the dead in Iraq, would probably be 3 times greater than it is. Alot of those 10,000 to 15,000 wounded would be deaths.

2.) If you compare the first 3 years of active US involvement in Nam to the time in Iraq, they are very close. I think the VN death toll was around 2100 in 1963.

5. Two of them from Kansas. Hell of a Christmas Chimp.....
From the Wichita Eagle....

Two U.S. Army sergeants with connections to south-central Kansas were killed in Iraq this week.

Sgt. Jerry W. Mills Jr., 23, of Arkansas City, and Sgt. Donald J. Hasse, 28, were killed Tuesday when a bomb detonated near their military vehicle in Taji, Iraq. The men were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 13th Armor Regiment at Fort Riley.

Hasse's mother, Beth Ann Todd, lives in Wichita and said that her son graduated from high school in the Wichita Falls, Texas, area. Hasse served in the military all his adult life.

7. We've got them on the run.....
Their argument is if we set up a timetable the insurgents will just lie in wait until after we leave. I wonder if the families of these 14 marines wouldn't have minded a timetable today.

When is the job done? When we hit 3000, 4000 , 5000?

Whether you believe in "sin" or not, some of this obviously has to fit the definition of sin for somebody.
