Admit it. Republican Congress People are Mean.

Today finds Neil Lisst political cartoon on safari with the Discovery Channel, stalking the American Republican.

3. I write them, describe them, maybe send photos ...
he draws them.

We collaborate daily on the cartoon, mainly by email.

I like this one because it was perfect the first time, no changes.

It does look like air brush, though. I wish he'd post some here, but he's Canadian, and his interests are primarily those of Canadians, who worry about their closest neighbor and where it is headed under Bush.

10. larissa, what was it that bugged you about the praying bear?
I really like feedback of every kind. Someone from DU even wrote me an email to tell me how much they disliked it.

Interestingly, one group thinks it is too laudatory of Pubs, the other thinks it is potentially offense to white church goers.

Apparently, no one is troubled by my vision of Republican congresspersons!!

12. Airbrush?
I work in photoshop on Neil Lisst and you are correct, I airbrushed the dark accents and spots.

If anyone is interested, I take the script from Neil Lisst (he sometimes sends me photos to use as a model), draw, scan and manipulate the images. Then I frame them and add the word bubbles and touch up the comic. Once the first draft is complete, I email it to Neil. Sometimes we bounce a comic around 3 to 5 times. A few comics we have never published.

14. That's my partner, yall!! Make him welcome. He's Canadian!
In case you don't know, all Canadians would be Democrats if they were in the United States, except the ones that would be Greens.

16. that's a good one, too
we toyed with naming them DELAY, HASTERT, etc.

but decided against it

I love the look of this one. We did the praying bear to set up THIS one, with the hyenas. Same for the meerkats setting up the DLC snakes.

15. Should be wolverines
Even wolverines hate wolverines. They can't live within miles of each other or they will tear each other apart. The Repuke prototype, so mean that when they get full, they piss all over their kill so no one else can eat it. Is that Repuke or is that Repuke?

17. Will Farrell, a wolverine up his azz ...
Anyone see that SNL?

Anyway ... problem is a wolverine is an American animal, and we are trying to use more exotic animals for our cartoon. However, I'll log the wolverine away for future thought. I like to use animals, for they help to convey thoughts. Wolverines are known for their bad attitudes.

18. animals we are planning on using near term ...
more bears, but not praying

a skunk

some piranhas

a pig

I've got a whole zoo in my head, just waiting to jump out.

No animals are harmed in the writing and production of this cartoon.
