HuffPost: Advice For Scott McClellan
Arianna Huffington: Some Post-Thanksgiving Advice For Scott McClellan
Sat Nov 26, 1:31 AM ET

Poor Scott McClellan.

He must be feeling left out. While members of both parties keep popping up and calling for Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld, and even Vice President Cheney to resign, no one has mentioned Scottie.

So, in the gentle spirit of this Thanksgiving weekend, let me step in: Scottie McClellan should step down. But not for the same reasons as Rove, Rummy and Cheney. I think Scottie should resign for Scottie's sake.

I mean, just look at him. Day in and day out, being sent out with such ludicrous talking points, contradictory evasions, half-truths, non-sequitors, and outright lies -- it's hard to even watch him.

Sometimes, his talking points are so mutually contradictory you get the feeling that his hard drive is about to crash, and Helen Thomas will have to step up and reboot him.

<snip>

For God's sake, someone put him out of his -- and our -- misery.

1. A place in history for Scott (if he wants it)
Only one White House press secretary in history has ever resigned because he was duped by his boss into telling a lie.

J. F. terHorst quit his job as President Ford's press secretary in 1974 when Ford pardoned Nixon. terHorst had repeatedly told reporters that Ford had assured him that would never happen.

Ain't honor and dignity grand?

5. Maybe
I'll have to check. But I remember that terHorst specifically cited Ford's flip flop on Nixon for leaving his post. (showing my age again!) I don't recall any Clinton spokesman citing Monica for leaving... but I wouldn't bet the farm on it...

4. How soon we forget
Remember, Scotty came in to relieve Ari Fleisher. He has been trotted out to lie for this admin from the onset.....it is nothing new. That's his job...lie...do whatever...just keep the press off our ass and tell them nothing! He has a pretty good mastery of the doublespeak, just listen to him. He rarely says anything. So, let's not have any sympathy for him. Let's make him stay on the ship till it goes under......and all bubbles are gone! He deserves it!

He is part of the Texes mafia/ BFEE. His brother is ruining Medicare/ Medicaid as we speak.

Scotty is neck deep in this administration. He is not going anywhere.
