Looking forward to 08!!!
Tonight, as we were discussing what we were thankful for, I said, "I'm thankful that George W. Bush can't run for president again."

I believe they have NObody they could package and sell quite the way they did with him ('the empty box of soap flakes') and I doubt voters will buy it again, anyway.

I'm hopeful we'll have a great candidate and a strong campaign.

In the meantime, we need to work locally for *verified voting!!* That is key. (And a runaway lead, say a 15% spread in polls, would be more difficult for them to erase.)

I think we're all chomping at the bit somewhat to think about '08; Obviously we need to be working on next year's elections. But I, for one, can hardly wait.

2. Actually
we beat him both times already.

I don't think he really won in Texas either for that matter.

He is and always will be a great big loser. A nothing of a little man.

3. I hoping that separation of church and state becomes popular
again and that science one day solves the mystery of Kansas.

7. Taking a guess, I'd say Kansas really isn't much of a mystery.
I just think that Kansas is showing the results of 30+ years of right wing intimidation. There is a huge problem in getting those who are actually fit to run for office to actually mount a campaign for office. The nuts that come out to greet you in the process are enough to turn any sane, reasonable person's stomach.

Most of the population of this country is tuned out to how government is run. Only extremists from both sides tend to participate. In Kansas, it appears that the crazy, bible-thumping extremists bully out the thinking folks. Therefore, creationism is King.

We are all starting to pay a huge price for allowing simple marketing tricks to be used to control the population. The word "citizen" has no meaning in this country anymore. Neither does "duty" or "sacrifice". There is no appreiciation for contribution to society anymore; it's all about who's on MY side versus who's on YOUR side.

It is poisonous, and it is killing America, which is really a wonderful country. Wonderful ideals, a pretty good balance between government and private sector. There used to be a tremendous amount of innovation in engineering and scientific realms that came from America.

I fear that if our current sloth continues, our march toward theocractic fascism will pick up speed, and America will become a third world country with nukes.

People need to wake up, and fast. This is the worst shape this country has been in since right before the Great Depression. Something is getting ready to happen, whether it be Peak Oil, or our giant trade deficit catching up with us. Whatever it is, it will be ugly and scary, because the American citizen has NOT been properly prepared here in "have it your way" culture country.

God help us all.

10. Well said!
I agree, fascism feeds on sloth. The bell ringers in this democracy are the extreme poles of the political spectrum.
I go back and forth about the future but I am mostly pessimistic about
our chances of reviving the revolutionary spirit that created this great democracy.
This is all such a shock to me taken in contrast to the ideals I was raised with.
Others will slap my face and insist that generosity will overcome intolerance but I
haven't seen a convincing Shirley Temple movie for decades.
And look what happened to Shirley Temple Black!

8. I am hoping for a good nominee from
a flipable red state. The more EVs we can add to Kerry's 252 the better. There are a couple I like so far.

We did well in 05, I think we will do well in 06 too. 08 is pretty far away though.

9. Last night I watched some of the O'Lielly Factor
and I caught a few minutes of Bill-bo and Dick Morris talking about how the 2006 elections were going to be a world of hurt for the GOP. Oddly, there was no defiance in their voices. They seemed to accept this as fact.

Incidentally, O'Lielly, in answering one of his e-mails on the air, claimed credit for being the one who led the charge in attacking Cindy Sheehan. I think it was just his own delusion of grandeur that led him to take credit for being the "leader" of the attacks.

13. I think the Republicans only hope is to bring things way down, and then
start selling any incremental gain as the Republicans being on a role.

For example, say every Republican is at 35-40% approval, and between 6 and 18 months before the election, O'Reilly et al are saying there's no hope, then in the last 6 months they start propping them up and republicans start going from 40-45% approval, all you'll hear is how much they're improving and that there's a real groundswell in favor of Republican values.

If O'Reilly is bringing them down now, it's only to bring them up when it counts and then pretend that any slight increase is overwhelmingly portentous of the inevitable trend of declining support for Democrats.

11. If he could run again I guarantee you he would still win by voting fraud.
People would be shocked by the results, but the MSM wouldn't give it much attention, and the Democrats would most likely not fight for an investigation on the votes (Kerry and Gore should've fought for Ohio and Florida).Bush didn't win the first two times. The GOP technically has already won the elections of 06 and 08.What's stopping them from rigging those elections? The Democrats cannot expect to win if they don't fix this voting fraud.

in 2006, 2008 will be a cake walk for the good guys

14. 15% won't matter.
Diebold will always win it for the GOP.
