Here's a stress-breaker--beat Bush today
I was browsing my local Democratic party site today and noticed that they have a link to a 2004 Presidential election simulator that lets you choose candidates and scenarios to beat Bush, and then run the campaign. I downloaded the demo (it's free and a fairly small file size - about 4MB) and it's fairly realistic and, for a political junkie, fun.

If you get too stressed out on the real thing or don't want to wait until November to toss his butt out of the White House, you might want to give it a spin. Maybe we'll even stop fighting with each other (okay, that's not realistic). Here's the link:

(With thanks to Jackson County, MO Democrats for the link)

1. shameless kick
I posted this right before the debate last night, so it probably disappeared pretty fast.

I downloaded the full version last night, and so far, Bush has beaten me two out of three elections. I'd post the ticket I won with but I don't want to start any flame wars (and it wasn't even my first-choice candidate - go figure). If you try it, load up on oppo research on Bush. Like in real life, he's easy pickings.

Whoever researched this did a thorough job. Even Clark, who came into the race late, has a pretty accurate candidate platform. My only complaint is that it doesn't accurately model the right-wing corporate media, although it seems like spin for Bush is always more successful than it is for your ticket, so maybe they did.

Anyway, it's fun seeing how you can position your candidate to beat Bush, and experiment with VP choices (and try to win West Virginia, which I have yet to do...dammit).
