3. Define "terrorirst ties"
I would call the NRA a group with "terrorist ties" since I'm sure some of their members are involved with Tim McVeigh type activities...

And Chimpy has surely spoken to them...

And some "terrorist expert" named Steve Emerson is making the case that they have ties to terrorists and are directly supportive of "radical Islam"

One of the groups is "Muslim American Society" - Emerson is saying that "Clark is being deceived" -- now they're playing a Clark soundbite. This is a bunch of bullshit IMO

You have friends who have said X and therefore you must agree with it. WIll you disavow their actions?

If this group is such a problem, why hasn't chimpy shut them the fuck down? The fact is, whatever their history, Clark can't be held responsible for what they did YEARS ago even by Emerson's own account.

HAHA! Now Abrams is saying that 6 people have done it and Emerson is trying to bitch about democrats saying bad things about chimpy's visits to Bob Jones.

Allegedly it openly advocates suicide bombing.

Politicians need to be careful when talking to groups. The vast majority of American Muslims aren't members of Muslim organizations (the largest one has only 40K members). The fundies are the ones who join them. Hence, they are often very extreme.

72. Ok, I looked it up...This is RIDICULOUS
American Muslims discuss balance
between beliefs and the U.S. society

AMP Report

Thousands of Muslims discussed the need to integrate with mainstream American society while maintaining their unique beliefs during a four-day conference titled "Muslims, Citizens of the West: Rights, Duties and Prospects," at the Hyatt Regency, Chicago. The Dec. 25-28 2003 conference was jointly sponsored by the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America.

The convention brought together African American Muslims, Arab immigrants and groups of different religious backgrounds.

Dialogue with fellow Americans

"I believe it is in the hearts and minds of eight million Muslims in America that we must dialogue with open hearts with our fellow Americans," said Imam Yehia Hendi, Muslim Chaplain at Georgetown University and head of MAS Dawah department. "It is the mission of Muslim American Society and Islamic Circle of North America," he added.

Scott Alexander, a panelist and Director of the Catholic-Muslim Program at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, cited pieces of advice given by Pope John Paul II to enhance dialogue among humanity.

75. Is it only the MAS that they talked about right, well look at what I
found at the MAS site:

WASHINGTON, Nov 12 - The United States House of Representatives and leaders of the American Muslim community held a Ramadan Iftar (breaking fast) on Capitol Hill Wednesday.

Representative John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), along with several other House members, welcomed guests, including representatives of the Muslim American Society (MAS)’s Freedom Foundation, by reaffirming the importance of communities joining in the cause of establishing religious tolerance, saying that, "America is still a melting pot; a nation of immigrants.

"The Islamic religion is one of the three great Abrahamic faiths; promoting peace and unity, in addition to being the fastest growing religion in the U.S. today," he affirmed.

Conyers assured guests that the representatives hosting the Iftar dinner would continue to work towards making improvements on the Hate Crimes Bill, making it easier for federal law enforcement agencies to prosecute people who commit hate crimes against Arabs, Muslims, and mosques.

Conyers stated that since "September 11, 2001, people of Arabic descent have been harassed, assaulted, attacked, and arrested because of the great gulf between cultures," and that it would be their goal to strengthen the legislation, and make all activities under the “un-Patriotic Act” unlawful, asserting, "You cannot fight terrorism by applying unconstitutional tactics."

Conyers thanked the Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR) for their work in coordinating the event, and then announced, "I celebrate this evening with you!"

In closing, Conyers assured members of the American Muslim community that legislative and political developments needed to achieve the fight for religious tolerance would continue.

Along with Conyers, the Iftar was co-hosted by House members Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Loretta Sanchez (D-CA), and Barbara Lee (D-CA).

2 F'N days after 9/11 * let OBL's family fly out of the US when every other plane was GROUNDED! He then let OBL get away SCOTT FREE in Tora Bora when we had him CORNERED! Then he starts a war for Halliburton on the basis of blatant LIES, during which 500+ good and decent American soldiers have been killed, and thousands of innocent Iraqis blown to smitherines! And the f'n media whores whitewash all these crimes and outrages, while planting stupid innuendos about good men and patriots like Clark, because they are DEMOCRATS!

82. More on Bush and his meetings, etc. with terrorist orgs....

Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Awad was among those first introduced by Norquist and Saffuri to Bush during the presidential campaign and his access continued after September 11th. In fact, the front page of the Washington Post featured a photograph of Nihad Awad and Khaled Saffuri flanking Mr. Bush as he toured the Washington Islamic Center.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. According to the Washington Post, on September 9, 2001, at a rally to support cop-killer and former American Muslim Council executive Jamil Al-Amin (a.k.a. H. Rap Brown), Shaykh Yusuf declared, “This country is facing a terrible fate...This country stands condemned. It stands condemned because of what it did – and lest people forget Europe suffered two world wars after conquering the Muslim lands.”46 At this same rally, the Post reported, Shaykh Yusuf lamented that Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric convicted of plotting to bomb Manhattan's Lincoln and Holland tunnels, was “unjustly tried, was condemned against any standards of justice in any legal system.”47

The FBI went to interview Yusuf to determine whether this inflammatory statement was indicative of prior knowledge of the attacks that occurred two days later. When agents knocked on the door of his San Francisco home on September 20th, they were incredulous to hear his wife explain that Yusuf was absent because he was meeting with the President.48 Upon checking, the FBI discovered that he had indeed been included in an ecumenical meeting in the Oval Office with then-Cardinal Law and a Jewish rabbi – a meeting that was, according to the Wall Street Journal, arranged by Grover Norquist’s White House surrogate, Suhail Khan.49

The website of Yusuf’s organization promised to send a percentage of all sales of tapes of his pro-Islamist sermons to Benevolence International Foundation, even after its director was indicted for funneling money to bin Laden and al-Qaeda.50
