Conservatives want our kids killed in greater numbers in Iraq
There is no other way to put it. All of their defenses for our being in Iraq are worn out and long debunked cliches. They are indoctrinated to blather on about staying the course and they only do so because they think changing course would be an admission of ignorance and error; while in actuality it would be a display of wisdom and adaptation; evolution if you will. It would be a display of a thoughtful look at events. Instead they will keep blindly marching to the likes of cheneys tunes and meanwhile our kids continue to die in Iraq. They are dying in Iraq because life supporting christian conservatives in America are enabling bush to stay course. There is no other way to put it.

From a different angle.

2. They won't be satisfied
until they have sucked every drop of oil from under Iraq. It doesn't matter how many of our children are sacrificed. That is, after all, the real reason we are over there.

3. Because they would rather kill people than admit they were wrong.
They are murderers. They need to be banished from this country forever.

4. I sincerely believe that
Their pride is as false as their patriotism. Meanwhile our kids continue to die.

6. Hell yeah. You see it even at their grassroots level.
We have some longtime friends who are Bush supporters.

We--well, okay, I (because my better half knew better)--I was a Bush supporter in 2000.

Now, of course, I am against him, Cheney, and in fact against all republicans. I have the fury of the "convert", too.

I now get into arguments with those longtime friends. For one thing, I knew I was against this Iraq invasion from the first time I heard of it. (For numerous reasons.) Furthermore, I was worried that my sons would be drafted.

Our friends? They have a daughter who popped out 2 kids while in her teens, and they are now raising the daughter's 2 babies (both of whom are female.) They have a son who is 31.

So when I told them, hey, my sons might get drafted, I thought it would at least give them pause, b/c they've known my sons since the kids were born.

Nope. They preferred to rabidly defend their corrupt masters, Bush/Cheney.

Which tells me a lot about where they place my children's lives in the scheme of things.

Once I suggested that Bush might one day cause THEIR son to get drafted. "Oh, don't be silly, he's too old to be drafted!" Yeah, right--they're taking sick guys back into the military to return to Iraq, even as we speak.

7. Very interesting
Instead of saying their son would proudly serve his country they respond with "don't be silly." bush does not give a flying dog fuck about your son or theirs. And if he needs more bodies he'll change the draft age. I do believe the age limitations for reservists now is that you must be able to complete 20 years of service before age 60.

9. Hmmm... good point. I hadn't thought of that.
"Instead of saying their son would proudly serve his country they respond with "don't be silly.""

I might just point this out to them. Thanks!

10. Please share my thoughts with them

I served 24 years in the Navy, one tour in a combat zone. Neither me nor my shipmates ever felt "supported" by warmongers back home; those who wanted more death, destruction and despair to forward a political cause. We always liked the tried and true "supporting and defending the constitution." Quite quaint, but it works every time it is properly applied. In Iraq's case, the application is critically misguided.

11. Why am I not surprised?
The people who have actually served never follow blindly and unthinkingly into war. They always at least have a reference point for giving it strong second thoughts--and third thoughts, etc.

Contrast this to the typical Bush/Cheney supporter, who has never in his miserable little life put on a uniform. But he fancies himself an expert on military history, and says things like, "Soldiers are there to break stuff and kill people." (Rush Limbaugh)

I will mention this to them--right after I ask them "Hey, so how 'bout that Murtha?" Heh heh.

8. Read this satire:
Support Our Troops by getting them killed.

As difficult as it has been for me, I'm not so self-centered that I can't appreciate the brave men and women in the military who defend my freedoms from the great unwashed hordes of brown-colored terrorists. Whenever I think of what our American soldiers have to go through to prevent terrorism by killing and alienating Muslims, I get misty-eyed. Our boys have to deal with the unbearable Iraqi heat, deadly enemy snipers and crazed homicide bombers. It makes me thankful that my own 20 year-old son is safely away at college and doesn't have to be anywhere near the Middle East right now.

I have been thinking long and hard on what would be the best way to support our troops in this time of unending warfare. In previous conflicts, the citizenry was called upon to make personal sacrifices for the war-effort. Raw materials such as rubber and oil were rationed, neighborhoods grew "Victory Gardens" and people invested in War Bonds.

While such measures today would show the troops that we do indeed feel the Iraqi War is worth fighting, and dieing, for; I have a better idea: The best way to "Support the Troops" is to keep them in Iraq so they can get killed.<snip>
