NEWSMAX: House Rejects Dem Plan to Cut and Run
Newsmax is the only "news source" that has characterized the House debacle last night as "An Overwhelming Victory for Bush in House." Do they think the polls will show this as a great victory for Bush. It is fun to watch them pretend to not notice their pathetic Brown Shirt world collapsing around them.

The House of Representatives overwhelming rejected last night a proposal to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq, after two days of over-hyped media coverage of Democratic Rep. John Murtha's call for a U.S. pullout.

Though the American media ballyhooed Murtha's comments as an indication that support for the war was collapsing at home, Friday night's vote showed there was almost no backing in Congress for such a move.

Realizing they were cornered, Democrats decried the move as a political stunt. War opponents were further enraged when Ohio Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt stood to announce that she'd just taken a call from a Marine colonel.

"He asked me to send Congress a message: stay the course," Ms. Schmidt said. "He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message: that cowards cut and run, Marines never do." She later withdrew the remarks, saying she meant no insult to the Pennsylvania Democrat. Democrats erupted in anger - and at one point, Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford had to be physically restrained.

4. yes it is!!
someone posted this in another group I'm in (earlier today).

I straightened out the poor, unfortunate right winger by informing him that what they voted on was NOT Murtha's proposition!!

5. Wow ...um but Duncan Hunter wrote that bill.
LOLS cornered. Another one of those Rovian statements. Obviously it is the Right who is actually cornered.

The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:
Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person.

That is what they used taxpayer money to do yesterday. The desparate tactic of a desparate party, cornered by the public's outrage at the Republican's political spin and talking points.Unfortunately for them they are too blind to see that we have figured them out, and further use of these tactics only proves their shallowness.

7. You are right and this has been the Repub strategy all along -
But, finally it isn't working. They are trying to stick with what worked for Bush during the campaign. - Repeating the same mantra "911, unpatriotic, flip flopper, I know you are so what am I." We just need to keep watching, kick back and watch them dig their own hole.

10. Dear Newsmaxipad,
Will you guys, along with your evil twin Faux, please just follow the physicians oath of "first, do no harm"? Go away! You serve no purpose but as a cash cow for your corporate masters. As my late father put it, "If you have to lie to make your point-you have no point." You are bottom-feeding, corrupt liars who claim to be acting in the public interest. Whatever becomes of you (karma WILL get you) I will celebrate that day with joy in my heart.
