Many of you have written to me over the past 24 hours to address remarks made by Will Pitt, and those who responded to him. There has been some speculation that Will might be fired. That's not going to happen.

It has come to my attention that some of you have either discontinued or pledged your financial support for TO based on this incident. Please do not do either.

The democratic nominating process promises to be a contentious one, and infighting will only compound the problem. Whoever runs against Bush a year from now will need great strength to defeat him, and even greater strength to clean up the mess he has created once in office.

We have a mission. This is it:

Our federal government has been taken over by some of the most dangerous people this country has ever seen. Public ignorance, fueled by deliberate dis-information, is a cornerstone of oppression. We intend to do everything in our power to educate the general public as to what is really happening.

In short, we need our donors, we need our readers and we need to get back to work. Thank you for your heartfelt comments. We get it.

to do one of those "cry England, St. george and the other thing" speech but I don't just have it.

I just think that it is a bad time to get the hump, even if you got every right to be.

bush* has had some really big victories just lately and this is thus a very bad time for all the wheels to come off our trolleys here.

A reporter is supposed to report the news objectively, a columnist or essayist is supposed to offer his opinions and analysis of the news. Will is, and always has been entitled to his own opinions, especially on a discussion board on his private time. Some people here don't seem to understand that there is something much bigger at stake here than personalities.

I have had my disagreements with Will and he can attest to some heated private exchanges over non-political issues that ended up amicably, or more or less with a handshake to agree to disagree. But there was never a question that it would end up as a personal pissing contest on this message board.

The personal swipes here disgust me. Some of you people disgust me. Petty grieveances over your preferred choice of candidate and Will is secondary to that is what the real issue seems to be with you particularly petty people. And also that you expect different standards from a private forum memeber who happens to be a writer and author.

A shitstorm? Yes. Gauranteed because of the petty bullshit that is bound to go on in a public forum. Some of you folks need to examine your own personal issues and motives for attacking a private member of this forum.

Now, to the subject at hand, is this situation not the very thing we are fighting against with the asshole moran criminally insane idiot in the White House?
