The war of 2006 has begun - and Rove is definitely back!

Watching the news the past couple of days one things stands out more than any other. The Bush Administration is definitely on offense. Consider the "consistency" of their message. Consider the different number of people saying essentially the same thing. Consider the sharp edge of their attack. Consider the "deflection" technique, the "changing the rules" technique, the "blame your opponent" technique. Where does this all come from?

KARL ROVE, mofos.

Yes, he's back and he's in charge. This is a war now. Will the Dems in Washington chicken out and leave us hanging - AGAIN? I hope not. I have a renewed excitement that hasn't been present since last years election.

It's war. The exit strategy is victory in November. Not just a handful of pickups, mind you. BUT TOTAL VICTORY. Winning back the House, the Senate and most Governorships.

It's war. Are you ready for it? This is an election year. No more wasting time.

The war is turning against them. Now that the people are turning against them, it has embolden Congress, and I do NOT believe the Democrats will stop this time, or even try to be conciliatory

3. Murtha and oddly enough Chuck Hagel may have given them the sand

to fight back. Now Dems can oppose the idiocy of the war without looking weak. You have a hawkish Dem and a Conservative Republican both War Vets who have spoken out against Iraq. With Hagel his standing has actually increased over the last year in the party, with Murtha you have a bonafide serious National Security figure calling out the White House. He even ripped Cheney for his five deferments. You also have two other factors. The vote 98-0 in the senate to get the WH to give progress reports on Iraq and to come up with an exit strategy. And, Harry Reid. He immediately ripped Cheney on the senate floor for his remarks criticizing Democrats the other day. Even Bill Clinton is saying Iraq was a mistake.

It's falling into line. Dems can't chicken out now. Once you start down this road you better go all out.

NYT this morning has an odd story about this. This is the second trip where Bush has acted odd. I can not figure just what is going on. It is almost like when you let your young teen-ages off on their own and you sit home and worry about them in hopes they can act right and will do as you taught them.

7. The difference - is the public

public sentiment is against the war. Public sentiment no longer favors cutting taxes over everything else.

Roveco hasn't fully accepted the context for congress (i.e., the voter sentiment) has changed - and the more Roveco fights - the more the public sentiment falls away b/c the public HAS been paying attention since the summer - and each ridiculous attack either 1)challenges the admins credibility (as in 'wait a second... it was bush/cheney who said.... that isn't what they are saying now... maybe all of this manipulation stuff is real...'), or 2) serves as a reminder to those who have fallen away in support - that bush can't admit a mistake (remember he did this multiple times in the campaign) and therefor as long as these folks, with their thuggish responses, are in power - then there will be NO change in policy about Iraq.

In short - their (Roveco) attacks hurt them, not dems. They still are working from a playbook in which a few catch phrases repeated ad nauseum are blindly accepted and "boost polls." Context changed. Folks on the hill have to get reelected. Arent going to do it by being aligned with a very unpopular president.

And per the war to be waged back by the dems - last night's vote gives the dems the most powerful, populist message to be had in eons. The GOP just completely shifted the outlook for the 2006 elections.
