Happy 57th Birthday, Howard Dean.
You said we would take our country back, and we are. We are still inspired. You are in a different leadership position than you thought when this flash video was made a while ago...but it is part of history now. The organizing meetings last night inspired a lot of people to get involved. On the conference call with your brother the other night, you said we had the power and we are about to use it. I think you were right...it will take all of us together.

I'm glad you're out there looking out for us. I breathed a sigh of relief when you became Chairman. Nobody else could do it as well as you do.

13. I got these quotes from a well wisher off
the "birthday card" to Dean..

"At every turn when there has been an imbalance of power, the truth questioned, or our beliefs and values distorted, the change required to restore our nation has always come from the bottom up from our people.
Howard Dean

And his statement about Bush's compassion.

The State of the Union may look rosy from the White House balcony or the suites of George Bush's wealthiest donors. But hardworking Americans will see through this president's efforts to wrap his radical agenda with a compassionate ribbon.
Howard Dean

Hypocrisy is a value that I think has been embraced by the Republican Party. We get lectured by people all day long about moral values by people who have their own moral shortcomings.
Howard Dean

32. May as well add something
else that happened on Nov 17, 2005 in history..

snip~
"Video - War Hawk Rep. Murtha (D-PA) Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
November 17, 2005"

More at..
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2256738

And to top it off..Congressman Murtha had recommended Dean for Party Chair way back in January, 2005..

snip~
"Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) is actively lobbying Democratic National Committee (DNC) delegates to select former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean as their next chairman.

The endorsement of the leading antiwar presidential candidate by one of the Democrats’ most prominent early supporters of the Iraq invasion signals a rehabilitation of Dean’s image in the House and greatly increases his prospects of leading the party, many Democratic lawmakers and aides said.

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) is writing letters in support of Howard Dean.

Several lawmakers said support by the hardscrabble, old-school Vietnam veteran, who endorsed former Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.) in the presidential primaries, would compel the DNC to take a second look at the firebrand governor and not simply write him off as an extreme avatar of the party’s antiwar wing.

At Dean’s request, Murtha wrote to Pennsylvania’s seven delegates to the DNC last week explaining why he is endorsing a candidate with whom he shares so few positions.

“I am not with him on all the issues, but he understands the party’s problems, what we need to do and how to get there,” said Murtha. “And he has executive experience. … A lot of people in the party don’t understand just where we are. We need a change. We need something different.”

Fascinating to me now..cause I really like Murtha from just seeing him on tv..

25. That was a different time, a different goal...but we are flexible.
Aren't we, zidzi? He doesn't have to be president (yet) to make a difference. He has proved that. Reminds me of this cartoon from 2004...I watched these crazy GOP guys and Bush blaming us for all the mess. I thought about this...check the headline on the woman's paper.

weirdest ironies in history.

We get the mentally challenged one for prez(sic) and Dean goes on to do very sane things for his country:)
