John Kerry Fires Back to Cheney’s Latest Personal Attacks and Lies
John Kerry Fires Back to Cheney’s Latest Personal Attacks and Lies
November 16th, 2005

Dick Cheney opened his mouth and spewed forth a mess of lies and attacks tonight at the Frontiers of Freedom Institute 2005 Ronald Reagan Gala. In his speech, Cheney accused Democratic senators who allege that the Bush administration distorted intelligence to justify the war in Iraq of engaging in “one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.” Dishonest??? Reprehensible??? Nothing is more reprehensible than a Vice President who never served a day in the military, a Vice President who had 5 deferments to keep his sorry ass out of Vietnam, lying about the justification for war.

John Kerry fired back to Cheney’s latest round of vile personal attacks and blatant lies about Iraq (which included naming John Kerry, Harry Reid and Jay Rockefeller), with this statement:

“It is hard to name a government official with less credibility on Iraq than Vice President Cheney. The Vice President continues to mislead America about how we got into Iraq and what must be done to complete the still unaccomplished mission.

7. Kerry Kicked His Sorry Ass With that Comeback
A more vile, slimy politician will not be found anywhere. He is a disgrace for so many more reasons than just his Iraq deceit. If GWB had any character (funny, I know) he would escort that SOB out the back door.

9. Wow! I just love the dripping sarcasm in this one quote:
"Too often when it’s been time to tell the truth to the American people, Vice President Cheney has had other priorities"

Didn't Chickenhawk Cheney say he had "other priorities" that kept him from fighting in the Vietnam war?

WTG Senator Kerry!

13. Kerry should throw this in his face while he's at it
Cheney changed his view on Iraq
He said in '92 Saddam not worth U.S. casualties

In an assessment that differs sharply with his view today, Dick Cheney more than a decade ago defended the decision to leave Saddam Hussein in power after the first Gulf War, telling a Seattle audience that capturing Saddam wouldn't be worth additional U.S. casualties or the risk of getting "bogged down in the problems of trying to take over and govern Iraq."

Going to Baghdad, Cheney said in 1992, would require a much different approach militarily than fighting in the open desert outside the capital, a type of warfare that U.S. troops were not familiar, or comfortable fighting. "All of a sudden you've got a battle you're fighting in a major built-up city, a lot of civilians are around, significant limitations on our ability to use our most effective technologies and techniques," Cheney said. "Once we had rounded him up and gotten rid of his government, then the question is what do you put in its place? You know, you then have accepted the responsibility for governing Iraq."

In his 1992 remarks in Seattle, Cheney foreshadowed a future in Iraq that is remarkably close to conditions found there today, suggesting that it would be difficult to bring the country's various political factions together and that U.S. troops would be vulnerable to insurrection and guerrilla attacks. "Now what kind of government are you going to establish? Is it going to be a Kurdish government, or a Shi'ia government, or a Sunni government, or maybe a government based on the old Baathist Party, or some mixture thereof? You will have, I think by that time, lost the support of the Arab coalition that was so crucial to our operations over there," he said.

The end result, Cheney said in 1992, would be a messy, dangerous situation requiring a long-term presence by U.S. forces. "I would guess if we had gone in there, I would still have forces in Baghdad today, we'd be running the country. We would not have been able to get everybody out and bring everybody home," Cheney said, 18 months after the war ended.

19. with what Kerry, Reid, Durbin and the others have been doing lately,
It's going to be pretty silly for them to keep calling them "weak-kneed" or "spineless" or even say "they have no plan" anymore. Any pundits who say these things are going to look hopelessly out of touch. Not, of course, that our good Dems have really ever been any of those things!

26. More leadership from President Kerry
It's about time we starting promoting the truth - Kerry won the election and Bush had it stolen for him by Diebold, etc. Here's my response to Kerry's statement.

More truth and facts from the duly elected President, John F. Kerry.

Kerry volunteered for Vietnam and throughout his political career he tackled the difficult, controversial issues such as Iran-Contra and BCCI. Cheney, as Senator (excuse me, President) Kerry pointed out has always had “other priorities” than truth, honesty or self-sacrifice.

In simple terms, President Kerry combines the attributes of deliberation and leadership.

I hope that Kerry and other Democrats keep the pressure on and, like Kerry did today, immediately counter all attacks and lies by Dickhead and other Bushazoids.

I am so loving this. Seeing Kerry in top form as he battles the Evil Empire is friggin' great.

There is something unreal about the media showing more deference to a corrupt chickenhawk than to a verifiable war hero when it comes to the Iraq War.

Do any of you remember your high school history class? Remember Boss Tweed? Cheney has outdone the crimes and corruption of the late NYC politician.
