DLC and Iraq War Exit Plan
Democrats tried to get an exit plan from Iraq passed (by non-binding resolution) but failed:
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-ussen1116,0,2865445.story?coll=ny-top-headlines

I had to note some of the numbers in the article, though. The measure failed 58 to 40. Since there are only 55 Republicans to 45 Democrats, it means that a couple of Democrats crossed the line to the Republican side.

Who are they? I looked up the rollcall votes for the Senate:

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00322

Conrad (D-ND)
Lieberman (D-CT)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Pryor (D-AR)

By the way, every one of these guys is in the DLC. Every non-DLC member of the Dems in the Senate voted for the bill.

Non-DLC Dems voting against the bill: 0%
DLC Dems voting against the bill: 27.8%

This difference between DLC and non-DLC is very in-line with previous analyses that I have done. I can post these again if anyone is interested.

1. The DLC did push for the war.
They did not call it invasion, they preferred to call it Progressive Internationalism, see PPI.

3. The Republican lite
DLC is just as guilty of Orwellianism, then, I guess, as the Republican Party.

Progressive Internationalism is really Regressive Unilateralism.

Btw, thanks for pointing that out.

2. What's the point?
Are you gonna work for the Republican opponents next year?

Everyone of them is going to be reelected overwhelmingly

6. I don't get your question.
What's the point of what, voting for the DLC? or voting against them? You're saying a vote against Lieberman is a vote for a Republican?

Sorry, but I live in CT and the Dem party here has refused to run someone against him in a primary. Meanwhile, he goes to the National Fricking Review 50th Anniversary where he gets an endorsement from Rush Limbaugh!!! And the Republican Party refuses to put any energy into running anyone against him, too. They like him too much!!!!

So, what's the point? What's the point of doing anything at this point?

4. I'm interested in seeing what you have...
Thanks for the heads up! (I/we already knew the DLC to be toxic to our best interests...the evidence that this is so may help when we look for candidates to support/oppose in next year's races -- assuming any current DLC seats will be up for grabs).

9. Nope.
She voted for the amendment. Now, that's an improvement anyway, isn't it?

Maybe the pressure from Cindy Sheehan is working?

Go Cindy!! Woohoo!
