CNN/Gallop: Only 9% would support a candidate like Bush
Nine. Percent. ! Finally!

Only 9 percent said their first choice in next year's elections would be a Republican who supports Bush on almost every major issue.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/14/bush.poll/index.html

In other words, if Bush ran next year and truthfully stated his positions on all issues (okay, hey this IS a hypothetical comparison) just 9% of Americans would support him.

What kind of democracy do we have when just 9% support the guy who was allegedly elected twice?! He should resign and we should have a fair and open election to replace this whole cabal immediately.

Coincidentally, I googled the phrase "9% of Americans" to see what kind of company those 9% keep... another Gallop poll found that "9% of Americans think it’d be a good idea for the U.S. to have a royal family." Hmmmmm.

2. How many people do you know that want to be led by a dictatorship????
The other 9% really believe that the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny actually exist, so who cares what they think anyway.

3. Dictatorship? where was that mentioned?
if you're referring to those that support a royal family, royalty has nothing to do with dictatorships.

If you haven't noticed, Britain is not a dictatorship. Neither are Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands...

They all have royal families...

Sorry if I misread your post, but I get touchy about Americans and their knee-jerk anti-monarchy attitude, mostly based on ignorance.

4. Excuse me, where was I talking about royalty? I was posting to the....
subject line and said nothing about royalty, although the bush clan may believe in their minds they are royalty. I believe they are despots that cater to the elite class and robber barons. I am neither anti-monarchy nor do I have knee jerk reactions based on ignorance. Long Live the Queen!!!!!

5. sorry, I thought the dictatorship statement
was in response to the OPs comparison to 9% of people in the US wanting a royal family.

No offense intended.

8. more from the same article.
Only 9 percent said their first choice in next year's elections would be a Republican who supports Bush on almost every major issue.

Forty-six percent said the country would be better off if Congress were controlled by Democrats, while 34 percent backed a GOP majority.

A large majority of Republicans -- 80 percent -- approve of Bush's performance, compared with 28 percent of independents and 7 percent of Democrats. Those results had a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

9. The kind of democracy we have is: rigged elections..
hidden agendas, torturing prisoners, wars of personal opportunity, liars in political office, no bid contracts, murdering officials, shall I go on?

What gets me is this: only 9% of the people would vote for someone like the village idiot* again, YET 35% still support him.

Now, THAT is a truly frightening concept. There are a full 26% out there that are completely stupid beyond rational means. That 9%? They are simply the ultra religious right that support this idiot*. There is always a "fringe" element to any society.

But honestly, what in Gods name, how do you explain that 29%????

:wtf:

10. I guess that leaves out Jebbie then - of course it says "truthfully states
his positions on all issues" so maybe there is still a spark of hope for Jebbie.
