"I am the commander, see? I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."
2002: Bush to Bob Woodward:

"I am the commander, see?

I do not need to explain why I say things. — That's the interesting thing about being the President. — Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/11/17/60minutes/main529657.shtml

Turn around, Mr. Bush.

You owe the Congress and the American people an explanation.

Stop your cowardly darting around the globe and face the American people to account for what you have done.

You lied to the American people and their elected representatives about your justifications for invading Iraq.

You sent more than 2,050 American servicemen and women to their deaths because of this lie.

You are directly responsible for the tens of thousands of American servicemen and women who are now permanently injured and handicapped because of this lie.

You are directly responsible for the the deaths of more than 100,000 innocent Iraqi citizens because of this lie.

You are responsible for the desecration of the cradle of civilization, its ancient history, its people, its resources and its honor, because of this lie.

You are responsible for pouring hundreds of billions of Americans' dollars into a futile, illegal, aggressive invasion of another country, that will forever haunt our nation, because of this lie.

You have directly endangered America by inciting increasing numbers of terrorists worldwide, who would now set out to destroy us because of your cowardly aggression against innocent people around the world.

You turned your back on the brave people of New Orleans as they screamed for help in the toxic floods of Hurricane Katrina. That one horrific act will haunt you for eternity.

You turned your back on the families of those killed in your dirty invasion of Iraq, as they sought you out for why their loved ones died.

You turned your back on all the flag draped caskets streaming back from Iraq, in the dark of nights, and under photographic ban.

You turned your back on the voters of this country, laughing all the way to Bush v. Gore, Diebold, caging lists, voter disenfranchisement and lying about your opponents.

You turned your back on our environment, caring not a whit about preserving it for our children. You only wanted to exploit it for its riches you could steal for yourself and your friends.

You turned your back on our children, stealing the means for their education, their health care and the preservation of their homes and families.

You turned your back on our elderly citizens, cynically tampering with Social Security, Medicare benefits, prescription medicine affordability and availability when it didn't suit your pharmaceutical donors.

You turned your back on struggling middle class workers and families, seeing to it that most of the increasing financial burdens in our society are borne by them.

You turned your back on your oath of office of the President of the United States, to protect and defend us from all enemies, foreign and domestic, when you allowed those responsible for exposing the identity of a valuable American secret agent, to remain in power.

You turned your back on us when you consistently cover up investigations into terrorist acts in our country. You must be "with the terrorists", because you certainly have never been with US.

You have so tainted the high office of President of the United States that it has become unrecognizable.

We deserve answers from you. Turn around, Mr. Bush. Come and face us.

We, the people, are coming.

His quote is the very definition of totalitarian ruler.

They don't need to explain themselves, they just need to have their power taken away from them.

And we have a constitutional duty to over throw him and the neocons and the theocracts and all the shady ugly toady people who do business with them and fund them ,give them "aid and comfort" and ally themselves with these traitors.

12. Remember these quotes? "We're an Empire now...."
As an unnamed Bush official told reporter Ron Suskind, "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality--judiciously, as you will--we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." For those who didn't like it, another Bush adviser explained, "Let me clue you in. We don't care. You see, you're outnumbered two to one by folks in the big, wide middle of America, busy working people who don't read the New York Times or Washington Post or the LA Times."

according to all the lastest polls.

What he would have said if he were being honest:

"Let me clue you in. We don't care. We own the news,
INCLUDING the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the LA Times.
We own the voting machinez too, so we can turn a 2-1 loss into a 2-1
win with a click of the mouse."

The executive branch is not a dictatorship nor was ever intended to be. Hopefully Congress is finally beginning to wake up especially with elections just around the corner. What they lack in courage they make up for in pure self interest and they can read the polls too.

23. His world tour doesn't seem to be helping much. Of course, he stays ..
.. hardly anywhere more than a few hours: he's burning a lot of gas carrying his personal army around the world, just so he can get off the plane here and there, take a quick look around, say "Huh!" and leave again. I'm guessing that this sort of diplomacy isn't repairing the damage he's done so far ...

29. You know what's interesting?
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 01:00 AM by Marie26
What George Bush thinks is interesting. Let's take a couple quotes:

"I am the commander, see? I do not need to explain why I say things. — That's the interesting thing about being the President."

Post-Katrina -
"MATT LAUER: Who would take the lead in that? Would it be a military situation? Would it be homeland security?
THE PRESIDENT: It's a really interesting question, and it's one that I raised that has created a little bit of consternation among some. I have said that there may be a catastrophic event such that the federal government has got the - it's only the federal government that has got the capacity to move in quickly with a lot of resources, which would require law changes. For example, the military cannot become police without a special proclamation."

Bush on Meet the Press, 2004
"President Bush: I think that's an interesting question. Please elaborate on that a little bit. A war of choice or a war of necessity? It's a war of necessity."

1999 interview w/Gov. Bush:
QUESTION: Would Saddam Hussein outlive a second President Bush?
GOVERNOR BUSH: Very good question. Uh, I think the interesting thing -- -- um, uh -- Saddam Hussein, uh -- really did last longer than anybody envisioned. He did.

Power is interesting to him; the use of power in war, or against enemies, or to silence critics. The expansion of power is interesting to him - and really not much else. This isn't a man who is interested in English literature, or Chinese history, or astronomy. He's quickly bored by almost any topic. But power is always interesting to him - the subject keeps his attention, and the use of it is a major concern to him. I've paid attention lately, and when Bush thinks something is "interesting," it's probably a good time to start running for the hills. And it's quotes like this that really make me see how Bush could want to have absolute power. It interests him.

You might even get to tell on the newsreels how you pulled if off, yeah. Listen hick, I was too much for any big city police force to handle. It took the United States Government to pin a rap on me. And they won't make it stick. You hick, I'll be back pulling strings to get guys elected mayor and governor before you get a ten buck raise.

Republcians believe in the Strict Father thinking, while Democrats believe in the Nurturant Parent thinking. That quote by Bu$h is right on with the Strict Father thinking. He is the strict father, so he can abuse his spouse, rape his children, and no one should say anything abou it.
