Dean Video
http://www.idiomstudio.com/

Here is the segment of the speech that the media would have played if Bush had given the speech. Good old enthusiastic, confident cheerleading. But since it was a Democratic candidate, take a little snippet out of context and then read from the Rove-prepared script.

7. Dean is on fire in that speech
The content and delivery of that speech moves me, as I think it should every DU'er. The message of reclamation should have a lot of appeal, whoever we support.

9. Just a little advice from an undecided
Dean was treated very unfair by this video. It is horrible what the press did with this, but it is time to move on.

The media is not going to apologize (well, they almost did on the ABC report last night), so complaining about his treatment, which was wrong, will do very little. If you really want Dean to get elected, go donate $20+ to his campaign. Talk to your friends or workmates or family members and convince them to give $20. Write to the editor of your newspaper and tell them why you still like Dean. Give people a reason to believe in him and you will be doing a lot toward turning his fortunes around.

I understand your anger and/or frustration concerning this because I feel it too, but it's time to work on getting things better. Dean has come from nowhere before and he can do it again, but only if he has the money and the active support of people like you.

I hope this comes across the way I want it to. Again, I have not decided on Dean or anyone else, so I offer this advice as a friend, not an advisory.

11. I am not in the Dean camp (yet)
but I posted this link to exhibit the way the media frames the election. There is no substance, only style. Instead of issues, we hear about Dean's wife not campaigning, Clark's sweater, Kerry's haircut, and now, God help us, Botox. It is a replay of 2000 when the media simply took the RNC's soundbites and played them over and over again, with no analysis or investigation. "Gore invented the internet" while giving Bush a free ride.

12. ABC's mea culpa

The Dean Scream: The version of reality that we didn't see on TV
The scream that may not have been
How do the networks see it? Here are comments from network executives to ABC News:

CBS News: "Individually we may feel okay about our network, but the cumulative effect for viewers with 24-hour cable coverage is -- it may have been overplayed and, in fact, a disservice to Dean and the viewers." -- Andrew Heyward, President - CBS News

ABC News: "It's always a danger that we'll use good video too much." -- David Westin, President - ABC News

CNN: "We've all been wrestling with this. If we had it to do over again, we'd probably pull ourselves back." -- Princell Hair, General Manager - CNN

Fox News: "It got overplayed a bit, and the public clearly thought that, too, and kept him alive for another round." -- Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO - Fox News
