"There Is No Difference Between Gore & Bush" - Ralph Nader, October 2000
"There is no difference between Kerry & Bush" - DU, January 2004

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Four years later, two wars later, thousands of dead Americans later, millions of lost jobs later people are still saying that the person running against Bush is no better than him.

Can someone with a little logic and common sense please tell me why, four years after, we're still having this same argument?

I guess it's true what they say about liberals. Ask them to form a firing squad and they line up in a circle.

Aren't we supposed to LEARN from experience?

1. The answer is easy.
Fanatics of any kind are oblivious to evidence unless it supports their beliefs.

12. You're kidding, right?
I have heard the "no difference" sentiment voiced repeatedly in this very forum.

3. Truly, the last three years should have made this crystal clear:
There is a wide, wide gulf between any Democratic candidate and Dubya. Yes, including Lieberman. (And LaRouche, my favorite joke of the day)

4. very funny. . .
about the firing squad.

I think when all these prideful liberals realize it is the candidate they didn't want or 4 more years of the emperor, they will suck it in and deliver the presidency to the rightful party.

Or, we will kiss our kids goodbye and tell them to have fun storming the castle. . .

5. Right.
I understand the psychology of the 'true believer'. I was one. We can't afford that luxury in 2004!

(okay on LaRouche, then; he is a heck of a joke! :toast: )

7. I'll tell you why
Because most of the Naderites were latte-sipping, upper-class, sheltered, effete elitists who didn't have the LIVE with the consequences of a Bush presidency. By voting for Nader they get to feel good about themselves, and feel like they are contributing to a socially worthy cause, without having to deal with the real world implications of their actions. Many of the Naderities I knew had large trust funds waiting for them when they turned 21, the types of people who could spend a whole summer backpacking in Europe without a care in the world. They are all enjoying their Bush tax cuts now.

14. There's a big difference between Kerry and Bush
But so many people see the Democratic Party losing so much with Kerry that they will accept Bush for only four more years.

15. Because four more years of Bush will REALLY do a lot of good

for the Democratic Party? Funny, I thought it was about getting our country back, not about the state of the Democratic Party.

16. your logic is somewhat flawwed
because George W. Bush wasn't running against any of them.

Bush ain't no Lyndon Johnson.
Bush ain't no Richard Nixon.
and certainly...
Bush ain't no Ronald Reagan.

17. There wasn't enough difference
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 03:27 PM by GreenPartyVoter
Bu$h was peddling himself as a moderate *cough cough* repub. Gore was striving for that consecrated muddle.. ermm mIddle ground.

However it is true that what we have now in Bu$h and what we could have had under Gore is the difference between slashing the tires on a car vs. just nicking them a wee bit.

I never was a Gore fan and he ran, what was in my opinion, a lousy campaign. But I STILL never thought he'd lose the WH to "is our children learning" Smirk.

So I felt safe in casting a vote of conscience and disenssion.

Don't feel so safe about it now, though. If Bu$h could steal the election once, he coudl try it again. So I'll give my vote to the Dem candidate and pray hard that if it comes down to the SCOTUS he will fight to his very last breath to take his rightful place in the WH.

I think a great number of others feel the same way.
