MYTH BECOMES MAN: The myth of Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi was born in 2003 when then US Secretary of State Colin Powell presented to the UN the case for war against Iraq, a terrorism expert has claimed. Zarqawi then became what the US wanted him to be. (REUTERS) WASHINGTON --  The United States created the myth around Iraq insurgency leader Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi and reality followed, terrorism expert Loretta Napoleoni said.

Zarqawi was born Ahmed Fadil Al Khalayleh in October 1966 in the crime and poverty-ridden Jordanian city of Zarqa. But his myth was born on February 5, 2003, when then-Secretary of State Colin Powell presented to the United Nations the case for war with Iraq.>

<The myth of Zarqawi, Napoleoni believes, helped usher in Al Qaeda's "transformation from a small elitist vanguard to a mass movement".

Zarqawi became "the icon" of a new generation of anti-imperialist jihadists, she said.>

Just goes to show that it is simple to be simple and in the real world lying
to get us into an unneeded war has it's costs. I wonder if bush will accuse
the author of trying to rewrite history?

1. Zarqawi supposedly had his leg amputated....
In Baghdad, for an injury suffered in Afghanistan.

That was the story BEFORE the US invaded Iraq.
