Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 12:44 PM by HawkeyeX

Go Dean! I have donated another $50 to a wonderful campaign. I am standing up with Dean, and fully backing Dean 100% until he comes back strong and wins the nomination!

At least Kerry isn't taking money from young kids and old people and then giving to the likes of Joe Trippi.

20. That's the best criticism the opposition can come up with?
If Trippi hadn't been paid a commission for ads sold, somebody would have been. That's the way it works (with all campaigns). To insinuate that Dean did something wrong with "money from young kids and old people" is offensive.

57. No... Trippi should have discounted the ad buy rate
The Dean campaign should have not had to pay Trippi's cut. That percentage should have been discounted from the total ad cost. Would that have been a full 15% discount? No. But (for argument's sake) if Trippi's cut was 10%, Dean should have been paying a 10% discount on his ad buys.

22. This is the weakest retort I've ever seen, attack on facts,
not wild ass speculation.

Yes, Trippi gets a paycheck. Trippi isn't satan. Just because he was asked to step down as COO of the campaign doesn't mean he has been using money for illicit purposes. Jesus, I hate this type of mudslinging.

Dean has blown over $40 million and has yet to win a single primary or caucus. Now he's asking for MORE money? And you people are really going to give it to him?

Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 01:44 PM by MercutioATC
It seems that, your remarkable grasp of the issue aside, Dean's fundraising comes from a lot of individuals who feel that they're NOT wasting their money.

Kerry's mortaging houses and still not making as much.

Thanks for the advice, but I'd rather excercise my right to support the candidate that I feel would do the best job.

Instead of giving it to Dean now, hold onto your two grand. I'll put up a money order for 10,000.00. If Dean wins the nomination, my 10,000.00 goes to the Dean campaign. If he doesn't, you give me the two thousand dollars.

What do you say? You can't lose!

The people are giving it to him. What a concept!

Obviously enough people still believe in what Dean's saying to keep his message out there. Make you a deal, I'll worry about Dean's spending and I'll let you worry about why Kerry has to mortgage houses to run ads...

46. Kerry can mortgage his house
have his wealthy wife pay the mortgage and then mortgage it again. And again and again.

I got a problem with a guy becoming President that the people don't support with their own cash. It speaks poorly of what sort of support he's really got.

But hey, if you'd rather an individual's wealth won an election over the collective contributions of the lowly people, that's your thing.

use his family money and influence to get out of Vietnam, like Shrub and Cheney and Pearle a million otherwar-loving repukes, when he could easily have done so, and he has not acted like an elite repuke fat cat like so many others of his family wealth and status, so playing the rich card ain't gonna work against Kerry. And Dean's gonna have a helluva time explaining his own military record, or lack thereof, if he's the nominee and that's one of the things that will bury him.

86. How is he going to do that??
A 6 million dollar mortgage at decent rates for 30 years means a mortgage payment of over $30,300 a month! According to Kerry's records, he made $144,000 last year....that leaves him about $220,000 short a year... I would love to see how he plans to do this.

11. Attacks are good for Dean
He will face far, far worse if he gets the nomination. Attacks give him insight into what he'll face, and gives him practice at handling them. And, if he can't handle them, it gets rid of a candidate who would be shredded by Bush.

And admit it, that scream would have been impossible to pass up. :-) It could help him, though. He got front page coverage, and became known to a lot of people who weren't paying attention before. You can't buy pub like that. Now all he has to do is turn it positive.

23. I think Dean's finally realizing
the effect of the constant media scrutiny, and that all candidates are, indeed, living inside fish bowls 24/7, but it's come too late. And I don't think he has the temperament to be able to handle the incredibly brutal rough-and-tumble of the actual campaign itself for a nominee, he's already shown that he can't handle it. And he'll be crucified for it, especially from the media whores who will love every minute of it.

7. It has taken Dean a week to reach 1 million.
That would be 12 million for the quarter. Now is the time you should be winning primaries and getting 24 million a quarter.

However, it's impressive that he's done a million, given the week he has had.

75. Hawkeye, I'm following your example and stand proud for Dean

I'm not a "fair-weather" person, which is how my Father described
people who were only by your side when everything was going well,
but were quickly gone when you would hit a rough spot. I don't
even want a "friend" like that.
Howard Dean is the greatest, and my family loves him.
My contribution will be on it's way within the next few hours.
:toast: :hi:

We feel that's a cause worth contributing to.
